CL30 working in 64bit?

Recommended Posts

I've been eyeing the challenger 300 bizjet. It doesn't have a navigraph FMS so that's a downer but it looks pretty cool otherwise.

Does it work in XP x64 without those SASL OOM errors? I get OOM with the Carenado A36 and am Leary of buying anymore products that claim x64 compatibility.

It is a very awesome jet I like it very much and would recommend it. It does take some time to get used to  so just read the manuals and give it some time. It is updated and works in 64bit and has a support forum in connection to the SASL issues which seems to be fixed. I have not had any issues with the aircraft, works great for me in 64bit.

About the FMS, I primarily fly the aircraft right now with AirTrack and use it's FMS function to supplement into the Challenger. The two work very well together. With that said, DDen is working on an update to the Challenger that will include a real FMS. When that comes out? well you know the drill. It can be in a week or in a year, we don't know. But the good news is that a real FMS is being worked on.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Thanks, how are the VC clickspots? I mean the mouse interaction between the radio and autopilot knobs etc... On some airplanes the +\- signs get really tricky (sometimes they get reversed). In fact I find the whole system to be odd since I can't use the mouse wheel like in FSX. A few designers lately allow the use of clicking and holding a button, then dragging, which changes the value. It's helpful because in turbulence finding a tiny clickspot can be a PITA.

I use Track IR so good click functionality is important.

Radio frequency can be a little difficult to change as it uses a series of buttons and knobs to navigate the PFD to the radio column at the bottom where you can then change the frequencies with the inner and outer knob. This can take some getting used to and is hard while in flight, thus why I just use AirTrack to plug my freqs in quickly. Other than that the VC is really good. It is a very automated aircraft and simple with its engine startup. It does not take much to learn the aircraft from cold and dark. Sounds are very good as well.

$34 - cripes... I think I'll pass...

I'll pass on the plane itself too.  Quick radio interaction is critical since I fly on Pilot Edge often (TEC routing yields many frequency changes and control instructions even for short flights).

I'm surprised the devs themselves don't find the radios difficult to interact with.  I wonder if the devs don't care much because many users have physical hardware controllers?  I'm pretty new to XP but I don't have any cockpit style hardware (stick, ch throttle, and rudders + TIR).

Was hoping this would be a winner,

Darn!

edit:  I did find a quick n dirty way to do it.  There's an app called avioware..  the demo version works alright (oddly enough the touch screen frequency manipulation isn't great either)... and the full ver is only $5.00
