When you go to reply next time, click on More Reply Options, and it'll bring you to another screen.  To the right of the text input box, there are three checkboxes.  Re-check (tick, whatever fits the region) the box for emoticons.

It always happens to me after I quote regs, because when I type B  ), it becomes B).

It definitely makes your citation of the regs seem that much more noteworthy, let me tell you.

On the screen now, enable emoticons is checked but my whole reply box is dulled down, and wont let me select anything - colours, text size or anything.

Check over on the left side.  Is the light switch icon selected?  If so, click it to turn it "on."  It enables BBCode and the related formatting functions.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does it mean to "sign their post"?  I have filled out my profile and I use a signature...am I missing something?

You are fine. Its just people who don't have their name visible at all. Like yourself, I have mine in my signature.

I can understand the position of weather radar. If its not possible and realistic, then PMDG wont do it. Makes sense and upholds the reputation.

That said though, there is an enhanced immersion factor having any sort of weather radar that shows something since it is a very very big part of flying the jets. Its an indispensable tool as can be seen on the 777 just planes or pilotseye videos.  Yes it surely cant be done properly in FSX. We all know that now, but just having some sort of representation I think just adds to the reality of the overall cockpit realities. The Q400 did this quite well. You dont rely on it to divert but its quite the immersion to see it. However, just to add that in just for cosmetic and immersion appearances may not be worth it. Understood. Just saying.

I am still blown away by the reality of the cockpit photos as it is. In fact no video necessary. This was sold when it was first announced just based on reputation. Cant wait for release.

No we dont know that.  What do you base this on?

Leveraging and incorporating either ASE's or REX's weather gauges should be quite possible.

My mom says that if not removed for sale before July will give me not to buy it, pls expedite take-off.

FSXs weather engine does not map or make available the location, size or volume of clouds with water droplets, or precipitation. The real weather radar returns are based on this, therefore it can't be done.

Read Ryans post a page back or so for explanation as well as the many threads on it.

PMDG & weather:

1. Not even FSX knows its own weather precisely (see rain outside of clouds).

2. FSX renders some clouds, based on the weather theme in the "bubble" the aircraft is flying in.

3. Any weather radar gauge does the same - internally, independently of FSX. The radar returns are calculated from the gauge's "internal weather view".

4. The two depictions of (I) FSX and (II) the gauge will be similar - due to the same weather theme - but they don't match (number, size, position of clouds; rain).

5. The decision "to implement this mismatch" is up to the developer.

6. Back to the beautiful VC preview and an amazing upcoming release. Thanks in advance, PMDG.

What happened to AVSIM

Regarding the weather radar discussion...why can't you all just put the discussion to rest as well all know what PMDG have said.

Just enjoy the previews that were provided by Rob & the team, and look forward to release, instead of digging up the weather radar's grave...
