Cannot take screen shots in FSX Accel. Windows 8 in Full Screen?

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden I am unable to take Screenshots in my FSX\Gold installation in windows 8 64 using the "v" key? If I change from Full Screen to Windowed mode then I can.But what changed?

I've seen I am not alone in this matter, but is there an easy solution, I can use the "Print Screen command" but that only takes one picture at a time...

Might be a sharing issue.  Right click your FSX folder and see if it is being shared.  Administrator is probably not allowing you access to your system.  He's only trying to protect you from evil people in the world.  Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jim

How could this happen I  haven't changed anything ?...

Itjust stopped working with the "V" key?

Unfortunately JIm my MEDION Windows 8 computer started making noises from a ventilator or something. I have called them and tomorrow I am to take it for repairs.

I am back on my old Dell Vostro 220 right now until I get it back.

I Googled the issue and I am not alone, checked the path where the images get stored and it was correct..But FSX decided not to like it anymore?

Then I found a thread by somehaving th eissue and he suggested using gthe Windows key+print screen key...this creates a new folder where the images get stored.I acnnot check because I have disconnected that computer already I am sorry. As soon as I get it back I'll check what you suggest in the FSX folderr and see and will report.

I have had to send that computer for repairs and it will take at least 14 days before I hear from them,I'm back to my Dell win7 32; So I'm not able to check the folder...As I say above.

I don't understand why this question/topic has been moved ?

Dennis thanks for your reply. As I say above I am on my old computer and won't be able to test until i get my New one back from repairs...In about 14 days ( Bummer)! I checked my key setting and path, just before the problem started with that computer and all was allright.

I do have FSUIPC Unregistered   I don't use any of its' mappings, other than the defaults FSX. If I were to do this I'm going to need more guidance as to how,I'm afraid to ask?

Got my computer back , had a total HD failure. I'm back to the issue of not being able to take screenies of FSX, Jim I checked if the folder was being sharred,it was not. I edited my security settings and gave myself Full Control on all of them.

Microsoft Paint is the program I use to save my screenies to and then save them to desktop, to do whatever... This Windows 8 doesn't have Paint or what program can I use???...

Glad to hear you got you computer back. Are you able to take the pics? If so, how did you do it? Just in case it happens to us.

It's strange you aren't able to use the "V" key to take pics. I also have WIN8 and have had no problems taking pics in either windowed or full screen mode.

You mentioned you don't have the Paint program in your Win8? That's also strange...I have it.

Hope you get things figured out.

After I downloaded a paint program I found, funny that didn't get deleted when they "Zeroed" my drive. Thus computer has Paint Pro from Windows 8.

I made a test with the paint program i downloaded and can take a single screenie, Still I am unable to use the "V" key; it's frustrating because I can't take multiple screenshots.

Attached is an image(J-peg) of the error I get.

In order to solve this problem with WIN8 and no "V" key for screenshots in full screen FSX can anyone with WIN8 please provide the actual full path to the folder that stores the pictures. I can't believe that the path is different for windowed mode and full screen mode. If he is able to take screenshots in windowed mode I think he should be able to do the same in full screen. The error he gets in full screen says "Unable to capture screenshots". He does not get that error supposedly in windowed mode. Please help. Thanks, Bob.

C:\Users\Yourname\My Pictures\Flight Simulator X files

whether full screen or windowed screenshots

taken using the V key or other assigned button.

One solution might be to use pseudo full screen

pseudo_full_screen.zip

at the Avsim Library.

If you use Dx10, it allows cockpit tooltips in full

screen too.

Nick

Thanks. Is this the path for WIN8 too? Can you take screenshots in full screen in WIN8 FSX with the "V" key? Bob.
