For the FS9 Rotorheads

Recommended Posts

Thank you for this AFCAD. It really enhances the already amazing FlyTampa Dubai scenery and gives a truly unique helo experience... Your "virtual Viagra" file worked perfectly! B)

Ian

My pleasure Ian......... I suppose I could ramp up the virtual Viag by making a file that hardens all the helipads in the area. :Nerd:

Give me a little while as I am working on the IFLY at the moment and I will see what I can do. :hi:

That would be awesome. It is such an amazing scenery and the more helipads there are to land on, the more addicting it's going to be. It's actually got me looking at payware civil choppers, as the only ones I have currently are military...

Cheers mate

Ian

There aren't to many good payware civil helicopters for FS9 (there is good ones for FSX though). So look into the H&S Design EC-145 and the ICARO EC-135. Both are freeware and are very very good! You will not be disappointed with these helicopters!

Thanks Joseph. I also found that Nemeth have released their S76 and EC120B as freeware and both are excellent also. Looks like I can put my credit card back in my wallet for a while! LOL Though there was an Alouette II I was looking at................ ^_^

The Blade Slap software sounds cool! Anyone else here use it?

Another question, since it's rotary wing related... I've been thinking of using a dual joystick Gamepad like a Logitech Dual Action for rotary Flight Controls instead of my CH Eclipse yoke. Do any of you out there use a Gamepad for this, and have you had success with using it? I'm thinking I would use FSUIPC to program the different axes...

A couple of years ago member Chock gave me a cheat sheet of Assignments, but alas I have misplaced it... :(

Thanks for the 411!

BTW... that ICARO EC-135 is pretty darned cool! :P

Everybody here uses it... :)

The ultimate rotary wing experience in FS9 is ICARO's freeware AW139.

Fantastic models (oodles of repaints and model variations) and systems.
It's no <CTRL> - E and off you go, either, you do need to read the manual.

I am not a manual reader and so I made a little video clip to remind me when I forget which little whatsit to press:

I also added an autopilot, and often go rotary instead of a stupid little Cessna. :)

You guys do know that you are contributing to an addiction here right??? LOL I've always been a "sometimes" chopper user but now I'm starting to become a real "rotorhead!!" Looks like the Icaro website is my next destination...

BTW Ed - the more at the video of your S76 landing the more impressed I am. From INSIDE the cockpit I would regard that as an excellent landing. But from external view, it's close to miraculous - at least to me! Almost any attempt I make to switch to external view during a hover situation is a disaster...

Cheers

Ian

Ermm The external view is a FSRecorder replay. For my vidz I record cockpit shots live with Fraps and also make a FSRecorder recording at the same time so I can then record an exterior view with Fraps of the exact same landing.

I have absolutely no idea about how videos are made - something I haven't tried or even looked at. I just assumed you did it like a screen shot! LOL So my assumption was that it was shot in external view....

Great stuff... one of the best things about the rotary wing fraternity is that they permit source files to be used for updating models to 2013 levels. The revamp of the EC135 VC was a brilliant example of this.

Is the EC135 VC upgrade in the base pack that is currently available or is it a separate file??? I have downloaded it but not installed yet as it sounds like I really need to RTFM and haven't wanted to put in the time just yet. I'm still working on the EC120B and S76...
