Makes me want to go back and give flying choppers another try!

If you got discouraged because you were trying to fly the default Bell 206, welcome to the club! :lol:  But if you try some other options, you may find the experience much more enjoyable and not too difficult. The Robinson R22 is quite easy to fly and if you want a freeware Jet-Ranger try Owen Hewitt's Bell 206B TV Version. I'm not sure where I downloaded it but Owen is one of the Flight Sim Developer's FSD designers. My guess is you will find it on their site or on Hovercontrol...

A fantastic payware chopper is Virtavia's CH53A Stallion. Looks great inside (VC is outstanding) and outside and is not too hard to fly.

I'm not a confirmed "Rotorhead" but it really does add another dimension to FS9 and can be a lot of fun, if you persevere and get the hovering/landing thing under control...

Cheers

Ian

I just love this sort of thing....developers thinking outside the box.  :Applause:

By that man a beer!......or better still a Rolex. I'll just nip down to my local store.  :biggrin:

I have to explore Fly Tampa's Dubai more. I had no idea there was landable helipads in that scenery!

PS: Nice landing! My helicopter lands are never that smooth and gentle!

Ah yes,,, when the Burj Al Arab loomed large, I wondered if we were going to see the landing at last!

I can see you've been practising, well done!

Now you're going to have to fill in those missing heliports, eh?

Ed, how did you land on the Burj Al Arab? I tried landing there but went right through.

Check WingZ link for further goodies.

Here is my Afcad for the Burj Al Arab (I named it OMBA....you can select it from your create flight page and it has a traffic frequency).....stick it in your addon scenery/scenery folder.

 http://www.mediafire.com/download/xp4l29m4xao9b05/AF2_OMBA.zip

That was my first attempt to harden a platform. I have since worked out one can harden anything using a transparent platform (which I did with the Rolex buildings) .... a bit like the XML flatten code it is a XML harden code.

Works wonders in the bedroom!.   :lol: .....jus' joking....I will try and remember what I did.  :unsure:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<!-- Created by Scenery Design Engine (SDE) on 23/05/2013 -->

      lat="25.267033999"
      lon="55.308423424"
      alt="510.0F"
      altitudeIsAgl="FALSE"
      pitch="0"
      bank="0"
      heading="0"

      fileOffset="0"/>
</FSData>

The code above is a XML file. If you drag it over the bglcomp.exe it will create a bgl (a transparent platfrom)

What you have to work out is what your lat/lon and alt are.

Not an indepth explanation because I did not know what I was doing either but it worked.....maybe someone may find this useful. :)

Thank you for this AFCAD. It really enhances the already amazing FlyTampa Dubai scenery and gives a truly unique helo experience... Your "virtual Viagra" file worked perfectly! B)
