Appeal to FSX Aircraft Developers:

 

PLEASE could you consider following some sort of Standards, when defining the "UI" parameters in your aircraft.cfg

This is the EASY stuff to get correct !!

 

 

In particular, the distinction between

"ui_manufacturer" = real world manufacturer of the Aircraft

"ui_createdby" = The FSX developer

 

"ui_typerole" = "kind" of aircraft, ie "Prop", "Twin Prop", and NOT its Manufacturer's Type designation.

Thanks for the suggestions, Geoff. This is one of my "Pet Peeves" as well. I'm utterly amazed by the number of "professionals" who still do not know about, much less use correctly the five ui_xxx entries!

Unfortunately, there are now many addon aircraft with incorrect "UI" data.

 

Ideally, what is now needed is a Utility Tool, to scan all one's aircraft.cfg files, and correct any missing or incorrect "UI" entries (possibly getting correct data from an online database, and submitting new aircraft back for checking and then adding to the database).

 

Not too difficult a tool to write, and an interesting project for any programmer interested in FS, especially in AI Traffic programs and/or the multiplayer environment.

 

Maybe one of the AI Traffic developers might be interested ? --- In an ideal world !!

I'm willing to bet that the reason you see those Carenado and Alabeo entries is to avoid licensing issues with the real manufacturers.
