FSX Crashed to Desktop

I have began to get the continual FSX crashes to desktop errors. I was getting these errors occasionally over the last several months but now I can not fly any free flight without a crash to desktop at some point. I just recently installed Version 2.3 of FS2Crew. If I load the PMDG 737 NGX  for tutorial #1, a flight I have done numerous times before, FSX will crash to the desktop somewhere between during the initial loading of the flight to as late as setting up the FMC per the tutorial. I checked and FSX crashes to the desktop when flying from Seattle to Portland with the Microsoft B737.

 

Core I5-3570K @ 3.40 Ghz overclocked to 4.30 Ghz

Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 with no tweaking, drivers current

G2D.dll - The g2d.dll is indicated as the faulting module in the last CTD. The dll handles plain text messages, like the frame rate counter and those other plain text messages you see periodically while running FSX and the plain text words in the FSX Menu, like the words Options, View, etc.  There may be something corrupted in your dll.xml which loads menu items. 

 

All of the other crashes had an unknown cause which indicates to me your fsx/display driver settings are set too high.  The PMDG aircraft require a lot more computer power than most other aircraft, especially in VC mode.  Just that extra need for computer resources could be enough to bring your system down if your settings are on the edge of being too high.  You could try to return your FSX settings back to the default and see if that fixes your problem.  Unfortunately, a bad tweak (Bufferpools is the most common) can also bring down your system so it is best that you rename your current fsx.cfg to fsx.orig, restart FSX and let the config rebuild.  That will take out all of the tweaks and bring your settings back to the default.  You should try the flight(s) again to see if ctd's continue.  If they do, then the problem is most likely somewhere else and your overclock settings would be the suspect.

 

One thing you can also try is to increase the heap limitation as your crashes indicate to me that you are running close to an out-of-memory crash.  Try this fix - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947246.

dont know if this will heip anyone but i was having fsx crashes all the time what i did and it seems to have fixed it i unintalled fsx and re installed it on my other hard drive of 2 terabyte, it was crashing on the fsx default settings i run a gforce 620ti card cpu's 3.90 and 3.50 and 16 gb ram hope this will help someone as i am very new to fsx
