Camera Views in FSX

Recommended Posts

Please don't bash me for putting this in the wrong section.  I figured this may be an FSX issue, hence placing it here.

I see so many folks with great screenshots taken from FSX, many of which are properly centered and look great.  I would like to know how you can get an external view of an aircraft whereby panning around the aircraft won't cut off sections of it in the view.  What I mean is for instance, if using a spot view, you can pan around the aircraft but at certain angles (besides perpendicular to the aircraft), the view of the aircraft begins to get cut off.  I like to create some good angled shots for screenshots, but hate having part of a wing or the fuselage getting cropped out.

Thoughts?

If you're referring to the distance between camera and aircraft, and you haven't re-mapped your keys, then go into the view you require and hit Bkspc to re-set default and then the + or - keys to increase or decrease distance.   But if you're referring to the special views that are not a part of FSX, then there are other camera settings available (search in Library).

Hi Jim,

Check this video which I made a while back. If those features appeal to you, then get EZdok. The video was an attempt at comparing EZdok's Spot Camera to FSX's Spot Camera.

If you're interested in getting a glimse at other features of this wonderful software, and you have 47 minutes to spare!!, then check my latest video.

Regards,

JJ

Many use Ezdok to create any and many camera views easily.

Wow, thank you very very much guys.  I truly appreciate the assistance and answers.  So the short, quick, and dirty solution is to use the + and - keys (is this the same as the mousewheel?), but I suspect it won't allow me to "center" the aircraft as I pan around it.  The other option being Ezdock which I may have to look into as long as it isn't too expensive.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately, the Spot View camera uses the model's origin point as it's pivot (the 0,0,0 point in the model)...

...if the modeler has not set up the origin point correctly, then you will see the behavior you're describing. The only viable solution then is EzDok...
