Help with FSUIPC profiles please

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum guys, unsure exactly where to go. But some help with this would be appreciated. I've just installed the new Twin Otter X and as I was creating a profile in FSUIPC Profile specific, I accidentally copied the Turbine Duke rather than creating a unique profile. Each time I start the Twotter it is now named Turbine Duke. I've been into the FSUIPC cfg but have been unable to assess a way forward.

Can anyone offer some assistance, cheers.

Can't you just delete the name of the Twin Otter paint out of the Turbine Duke header, and start over, not making the same mistake the next time?

[Profile.TurbineDuke]
1=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine N157JT Winglets Ventral
2=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine N626N Winglets Ventral
3=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine N710DS Winglets Ventral
4=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine HK4628G Winglets Ventral
5=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine GRTDK Winglets Ventral
6=RealAir Beech Duke Turbine VHDUC Winglets Ventral
7=name of accidental Twin Otter paint that you can just delete....

Pretty simple - but like anything always backup your original file.

Go to your main FSX folder and then to the folder called 'Modules' - you should see a file there called FSUIPC4.ini. This is the one you will change so this is the one you need to make a backup for. My technique is to copy the file in the existing folder (Modules, in this case) then rename that file FSUIPC4_ini.BAK. Now you have a copy of the original (that you can re-name FSUIPC.ini if needed).

Open the "active" FSUIPC4.ini file using Notepad. Scroll down towards the bottom and you should see a section that looks like this (only instead of being headed by something like [Profile.Beech Baron 58] it will say something like [Profile.Twin Otter]):

[Profile.Beech Baron 58]

1=Beech Baron 58 N5127G

[JoystickCalibration.Beech Baron 58]

AllowSuppressForPFCquad=Yes

ExcludeThrottleSet=Yes

ExcludeMixtureSet=Yes

ExcludePropPitchSet=Yes

SepRevsJetsOnly=No

ApplyHeloTrim=No

UseAxisControlsForNRZ=No

FlapsSetControl=0

FlapDetents=No

ReverserControl=66292

Reverser1Control=66422

Reverser2Control=66425

Reverser3Control=66428

Reverser4Control=66431

MaxThrottleForReverser=256

AileronTrimControl=66731

RudderTrimControl=66732

CowlFlaps1Control=66162

CowlFlaps2Control=66163

CowlFlaps3Control=66164

CowlFlaps4Control=66165

SteeringTillerControl=0

MaxSteerSpeed=60

Aileron=-16380,0,0,16380

Elevator=-16380,0,0,16380

SlopeElevator=3

Rudder=-16380,0,0,16380

SlopeRudder=2

[Keys]

1=65,11,66512,0

2=82,11,66649,0

Delete anything that refers to the Twin Otter - you may have only the [Profile.Twin Otter] part then something that refers to the Turbine Duke or you may have some Twin Otter specific stuff scattered in a few places. Basically what KingG was referring to.

Alternately you can delete everything that refers to a profile (and [Profile.XXX XXX] and start over. I have some basic profiles (Single engine prop, Multi-engine prop, Turboprop and Jet) upon which I base aircraft-specific profiles - avoids having to re-do all the basic settings where everything might be the same except the Joystick Calibration or a specific axis or button command.
