October 25, 200421 yr Here you go Mikkel...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/95559.jpg"plus just before you said you got a huge FPS improvement and now you say you don't??" :-hmmm There is a huge framerate improvement as well as sim performance Mikkel, I don't know how I can make this more clear... October 26, 200421 yr Thanks I see it now, btw very nice picture. :)My comment was just that first you said there was a huge performance increase, then you said the your framerates only gained slightly...and now you say that there's a huge performance gain again...see. :)It's not that I don't believe you, you just sent out mixed messages.
October 26, 200421 yr Nevermind I downloaded and tried the drivers myself...very nice actually. Just as a FYI, I notice that you have "Temporal AA" on, you might want to look into that, I'm not saying it's bad on your system, but check google and read the stuff there about Temporal AA.
October 26, 200421 yr I think your misunderstanding me here. First off the sim feels like I've got a 10 percent framerate increase. What the counter is actually stating is far lower. Performance wise, textures load much faster than before. I don't know what better way to tell you short of you seeing it for yourself. I'm not the only one to report this so you can believe me (the rest of us) or not.I'm really starting to see why some say don't go by the FS2k4 framerate counter because it's really not reflective of how the sim is performing sometimes. At least that's the case for me.... :-roll FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
October 26, 200421 yr Like I said above, I believe you when you say it's better, I never said anything else. I just wanted to know if there is tangible proof, but as you say I have to experience it to know what you talking about. It was just for the sake of all, if it could be reproduced so that we all could experience better performance...nothing else.edited for spelling.
October 26, 200421 yr Mikkel make sure you turn off (or down) everything in your second monitor settings... http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/95576.jpgAlso turn off the extra autogen (default.xml in your FS2k4 autogen folder. You can change it to "default.xml.bak"). Even though all should have been fixed with the patch, the light poles still cause me framerate problems. I turned this off way before this excellent tip came to my attention...Tell me what you get now... October 26, 200421 yr I have done that already...I did however get an increase inaverage frames by installing the new Omega drivers. :)
October 26, 200421 yr I tried it but on my setup I did not see any performance gain. Zero. And no change in smoothness. And not much change in visuals either. I will stick with trilinear.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2, Omega 2.7.90 (4xAA 16xAF) Michael J.
October 26, 200421 yr Well I do not exactly know about the gain in fps as I have em locked at 25 and they usually stay there. What I can say with absolute certainty is that the ground texture loading and especially the loading and range of autogen have increased by a wide margin. I always had those blurry textures a little farther out in heavy scenery with lots of autogen and they are definitely gone. Autogen now loads usually as far as I can see.My filtering will stay at "none" for the rest of FS9's life that is for sure.Alex
October 26, 200421 yr PLEASE, change your animated signature (whatever that is). It is most distracting. I skip reading all your replies because of it and I'm sure that wasn't your intent :-). It was cute the first few times, but now it has become just plain annoying. Have pity on us :-)
October 26, 200421 yr "I'm really starting to see why some say don't go by the FS2k4 framerate counter because it's really not reflective of how the sim is performing sometimes.".....ahh good, another convert :) The road to Damascus is getting busier by the day...lolSadly, turning off trilinear filtering had no effect on my rig other than to degrade the image slightly. I suspect, as I think others are also suspecting, that this has something to do with the recent driver optimizations for the 9800 XT 256MB cards. Pity they are still too expensive to justify a change from the otherwise excellent 9800 Pro 128MB card. I think I'll stick with what I have meantime :)MikeP4 2.4GHz (400FSB), 1Gig PC2100 DDR Crucial, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (Omega 2.5.90), SB Audigy (5.12.0001.0443), Hyundai ImageQuest Q17 17" TFT LCD 20ms Monitor (1280x1024x32), Gigabyte GA-8IRXP MoBo, Ultra-Quiet PSU 400W, WinXP Home (SP2), DirectX 9.0c, AGP Aperture = 128MB
October 26, 200421 yr I actually liked the old Bear (if that's what it was)... Give us the old one back... :-hah FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
October 26, 200421 yr Actually it's a taken from a widely avaiable picture...just enter "Please think of the kittens" in google as see the result. I think it's a japanese character but I can't remember exactly. You can also see them in this spoof:http://www.drivingthedeathcar.com/sageadvice.jpg
