July 14, 201312 yr Hi guys Need your ideas for a upgrade to my existing computer. I'm running fsx and x plane on win 7 64 bit home premium. Here's my specs: i7-2600k 3.4 ghz oc'k @ 4.4 ghz 16 gb 1600 ddr3(9-9-9-24) G skill memory Gigabyte Z68X-UD7-B3 (socket 1155) mb Geforce GTX 580 3gb 120gb OCZ-vertex3 ssd (x plane 10) 500gb Western Digital velociraptor ( fsx ) Dell 30" u3011 ultrasharp monitor I'm mostly running x plane nowdays and here's my rendering settings now http://www.flickr.com/photos/92186526@N03/9285508291/ I would also like to run 3d shadows and HDR if I could. Right now I'm getting 20-50 fps depending on location. I'm asking for upgrade options for performance increases with 1. My current system with the same cpu and mb 2. upgrading cpu and gpu considering performance increase vs cost I'm the type of guy who wants to see fine detail and sliders on the high end. I'm really loving x plane 10 and I want to keep up with future upgrades to the sim. Thank you for any ideas on this.
July 14, 201312 yr Well, you can read all about it over here:http://www.simforums.com/forums/gtx-780-settings-discussion-haswell-revealed_topic46112.html- but as mentioned elsewhere here on Avsim: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/412236-i7-2700k-and-gtx-580-vs-i7-4770k-and-gtx-titan/page-2 I really don´t understand why it would be a good and clever upgrade, and in particular with your system.I myself have an i7 2700K clocked at a modest 4.3 Ghz, same RAM as yours, same card, and I don´t have any issues, it´s smooth, it´s just perfect. Please note that I accept to turn down settings, AI, Traffic, Autogen, LOD, etc. all that stuff that people apparently want so much of, I don´t - I just want a smoooth FSX experience, and I have that now, so why should I upgrade? So I can put more stuff in, turn up the settings even more? Why?It´s an endless cycle... will never be satisfied.
