Can anyone help me with XPlane 10 performance?

I got XPlane 10 and tried on my computer but I had bad performance. I am new to it so I don't know how to choose the best options suitable for my hardware. I am a FSX user since years and I can run it with many addons with a acceptable performance. Is it possible to help me which settings to choose in game? My specs are written in my profile.

Hello and Welcome,In your "Rendering Options" menu there's an option to set all settings to the lowest,Check that and slowly start raising your setting till you find your PC'sPeak.I find that Clouds and setting World Distance highest are FPS Killers.

I have the same GPU. Not high end but works well with medium settings. Start with the lowest settings as said above, then add more and more features until you find a good balance. Try to stay away from HDR until you fly at night. Good luck.

Like the XPX uses your GPU instead of CPU can have similar settings in fsx and I am 10 to 15fps with XPX closer 40 fps.

World distance really affects fps. And turn HDR off initially. That kills fps.

Yes, your Vram is a bit low but you will be able to run XP smoothly at medium settings.

 

As others have noted clouds, HDR (and associated AA settings) are FPS killers as are texture resolution and world detail. Clouds actually look better (to my eyes) at lower puff settings, particularly with heavy clouds, so setting them quite low is fine. I have mine at 60% but lots of people go 30% or less. HDR is lovely but the effects are most noticeable at night so as mentioned you can save yourself a lot there.

 

Another good thing about XP is that many of the settings can be changed on the fly so you don't have to shut down and restart when you change settings.
