P#D pauses or stalls switch focus in multimonitor in window mode

Recommended Posts

I run p3d
I have 3 monitors
my main monitor is on the 700 series card nvidia
the other two are on a 600 series cardnvidia

the program p3d is running really well until i change the focus of the monitor from my main screen to the other two screens
when i change focus and then return to the p3d main screen , the program stalls or looks like its thinking , then starts again
( i have pause on task switch - unchecked )

to narrow the issue further, this only happens in window mode, when the monitor focus changes.

i am curious as to if anyone has experienced this same problem ro if there is a fix

Thoughts?
Peter

tonight i worded to isolate the issue

I tried the uiautomation .dll fix but that was not the problem , the issue remains

but here is a really curious thing ( window mode )

if If i run p3d in my main panel window on my middle monitor  and then open any other program in another monitor or even if i just click the windows background in either of my  other  2 panels , then the program will stall and it seems to search for something

then 10 seconds later  the sim will start again.

however , if i run p3d on the main window and undock any p3d window and place it on any of the other monitors and if i only touch the undocked windows, then the sim will NOT stall..

anyone have any ideas. hope this helps someone give me some ideas

Peter,

This may help you.

I did some additional posting on the Nvidia support forum.

I found that Nvidia "Bugs" have been in all versions after version 314.22.
I am using version 314.07 without problems now.

Isn't that how it normally operates?  If I take the focus onto another program regardless of which display it is on P3D will pause until I put the focus back onto the program and press 'P' to unpause the sim.  Unless it's another issue altogether.  I think there is a selection in P3D where you can have it "not pause" if you so choose.  The 10 seconds of waiting as you describe does not seem normal, however.

I have pause on task switch unchecked so that is already looked after

I have fsx and p3d on the computer,

fsx never does this p3d always does do this. The delay is much longer that 10 sec's . I hear sound

I see everthing as though it is paused, If for instance I have a prop plane the props stop and the sound continues

I cannot click anything on the sim until it starts again

It just sits there like its dead then picks up again.

Now im really intriqued into what is causing this so im goign through thp3d and fsx .cfg lime by line to see what the differences may be

Thank you

Peter

Clutch Cargo

Thanks for this

I have really tried to fix this for over a week. Im sort of running out of thoughts and ideas

I sent LM at least 5 notes / tech support requests with no feedback or any acknowledgement

I will search out the Nvidia legacy drivers and see what happens

I dont think this is a multi monitor issue, Contrary to what i wrote earlier. I disconnected everything but one monitor and if i keep p3d in one window and then click the windows background, i have the same problem

P3d is not flyable like this so im back to fsx for a while unless your idea is a fix.

Thank you for identifying the driver version for me , saves  a bunch of time

I will report back

Regards

Peter

No, I (Vonmar) mentioned the Nvidia drivers, not Clutch.

But I assumed you had already looked at the link I gave you in that post.

I did not know if the driver 314.07 would work with the 780 gtx . I assume it works with the 580 gtx card  Peter

Here is the status as of today

NO luck on the nvidia driver roll back

I tried to move the driver back to the driver version noted above

It did not work and I continued to get the "stall" on window/p3d selection

I even tried going way back to a really old nvidia driver version... that did not work

I then removed p3d and tried a clean new install of p3d, ( cleaned out old registry entries )  and then reinstalled

I then set up a new user and tried it and that did not work

I then thought that maybe there was corruption in my installation files from LM so I moved the flat installer to a another machine and tried that and VOILA, it worked fine.... I do not have the problem on the 2nd machine. I would use it but its just not powerful enough to handle everything in the long run.

So know I know the following

1. the installation files are good

2  p3d works with my old machine which is an i7 wx64 nvidia 295gtx  older driver version

3  p3d is un-flyable on my main computer under all conditions ( being run as administrator)

I have researched this endlessly and im sort of running out of ideas

Does P3d set up a log file where errors are recorded ?

I dont see anything unusual in the error reporting under the windows manager.

I hate when the machine beats me , but i think it has almost won this round!

Thoughts  Peter

Peter,

Just to confirm:

The old PC does have the same OS?

The same Nvidia card(s)?

The same Nvidia driver version?

Win8 on either PC?
