FS9 GroundEffect

Recommended Posts

I picked up this payware cheapie from Sim Market, on implulse.

From the Readme:

What are the system requirements?
In order for this software to run properly
• .Net 4.0 framework must be installed
• Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004
• FSUIPC 3.7 or above
The application was developed and tested on Windows 7 platform (it might work on other
Windows).

I run WIN XP and FYI: it does not work.
I should have checked I know, but it was only 8 Euro.
How come someone develops for FS9 on a WIN7 - only platform?? The software is 10 years old!

How old is XP then?

Does XP support .NET 4.0?

Meanwhile at SimMarket is stated:

"Requirements

- Windows Vista/7 (might work on other versions)
- [...]"

Nevertheless it gets a bad review from a Windows 7 user - doesn't work at all. And the price is lowered to 3.57 EUR...

Wonder how well it works.

Me too... I thought it rather a good idea, especially for my Carenado Baron.

SP3 does.

This tool lacks any ingame screenshot or video. I never trust such hidden rocks lol.

1. Users post the reviews not Simmarket.

2. The developer sets the price and decides when something goes on sale and for how much. Simmarket has nothing to do with this either.

Whatever

Then why would they allow 2 negative reviews?

What exactly does this thing do?  This part of the description doesn't make sense to me... your planes will no longer fall like a stone during touchdown flare

If your flare is right according to speed/altitude, the plane shouldn't fall like a stone.

I wonder how the Ekranoplan models for FS2004 (for instance by Alphasim) could work without this. Or were they just strange looking aircraft with usual flying characteristics even at height?

Well, at the moment: nothing!

What is it trying to do?

LOL  Good one.  I wonder if some of these people test their product on different machines before release.  Just over a month ago I purchased something that didn't work as advertised in FS9.  Good thing simmarket gave me a refund.

Was just looking at the review and it's funny how the developer gave himself a perfect score while asking for feedback, and two real reviews say it doesn't work.

Thanks for the wiki link.  I just learned something new today.

...Ekranoplan models...
Good point.

If I remember, they just flew to max altitude of 10m or whatever - no transition in or out of GE

Exactly. The question is how is this modeled in FS2004 without the GE tool... (perhaps by power settings with hidden engines?)

There is the Alphasim A-90 Orlyonok Ekranoplan available as freeware - originally modelled for FS2002. Will test it if I'm back from holidays. I'll spend my holidays in Georgia again, not far from the Caspian Sea - if you understand   And after these three weeks, perhaps the GE tool is patched.
