Are they coming down in price yet?

Regarding 512GB SSD, I like the OCZ Vertex 4. Great performance and high quality. So good that I have two. One is in my FS PC.

My previous SSD was a Corsair 480 GS. It died after 2 months of use... This SSD was replaced by a Plextor M5S (256GB).

$469 for Samsung 840 512GB is not bad, considering I paid about the same price for the 830 256GB a year and half ago.

I own a Crucial M4 256 GB. It's been rock solid for two years.

It may not be the fastest SSD, but it's definitely one of the most reliable.

They used to have a 512 GB model, but this years is 480 GB instead of 512 GB.

Thanks I'll look at those...  my 120GB is really full, only about 15 GB left.

$130 difference for the one SolRayz posted vs what Dazz posted...  same name except "MLC."  What's the difference?

The PRO version (more expensive) uses MLC memory that is faster to write to compared to the regular 840s TLC memory. The regular 840 will be replaced with a new 840 EVO that also uses TLC, but also has a couple of GB of faster NAND (6GB on the 500GB mmodel) that it uses to speed up writes by first writing to the fast memory and than copying over to the slower memory when it has idle time. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7173/samsung-ssd-840-evo-review-120gb-250gb-500gb-750gb-1tb-models-tested

So I'd some good offers as the vendors clears the stock of the 'old' outgoing 840.

Given that FSX is 99% read when running, better write performance might be a waste of money for a dedicated FSX drive.. B)
