Thinking about the B777 or A320....

Recommended Posts

Both aircraft are very different with different missions and almost beyond comparison in the RW... but I'm thinking of getting some "heavy metal" for my XPX/ 64 bit sim... both appear to excellent and well done simulations of these 2 amazing a/c, can anyone advise (preferably who have both products) regarding which might be a good introduction into payware heavy metal?

In FSX I fly PMDG, RealAir and Milviz stuff almost exclusively, as I like good simulations.....

Thanks, Bruce.

I would recommend the Ramzzess 777-200LR, I have both so I know there strengths and weakness's, The 777-200LR has a more complete FMC (Fully) The Airbus A320NEO is also a great buy but there is just something about it that I don't like as much.

And I couldn't disagree more, haha with all do respect..... It's in the Geneva convention (anchor man) I also own both and absolutely love the A320 and the 777-200LR both are amazing aircraft and you can't go wrong with either.

I have both. However the 777 is the bird to get. I really like the 320 but it just doesn't feel right. I am having some irritating issues with it that I just don't have with the 777.

I have and enjoy both. To my mind the 777 is currently more 'stable' at the moment, and is arguably the more 'complete' of the two. That said, JARDesign are very pro-active and appear to be updating at a steady rate. JARDesign group do listen to the community and I believe their openness to questions and criticism will eventually deliver a very complete aircraft (JARDesign himself noted in the Org forums that the reason he chose to model the A320 was because he wanted a realistic and complete A320).

Just so you're not surprised, since it looks like you go for realism, there are a couple of items on the 777 cockpit, that are not prototypical. One is a toga button on the MCP.  Obviously a compromise for a simulation. PMDG does this with hidden click spots. The other is that the EFB visually is not prototypical. These may or may not bother you, just to make you aware, if you weren't already.

Thanks

Thanks for the HU....  I assume the EFB is somewhat functional though, if not visually accurate...  ?

The WL 777 is still a bit buggy for my liking...

Just came from an LEMD - LPPT flight.I used the new NOAA GFS weather injector plugin and can confirm it is great BUT!!!! while wind transitions are smooth, beware that you'll have clouds pop in pop out just like in FSX, from time to time :-/  Then, there is yet another little annoying problem - this injector can inject good turb data, and sometimes X-Plane 10 interprets that turbulence at higher levels than it should IMHO - poor 777 wings....

Then VNAV is still full of bugs in the WL 777 - sorry, there is simply nothing coming closer to what PMDG ( and others ) offer for FSX in X-Plane 10 !!!!  I had everything correctly programmed and as usual my 777 forgot to initiate it's descent at TOD... duh...

There were also other bugs, during climb...

Peter's A380 is very good in terms of FBW and even following a flightplan with altitude constraints, but it has a very rough interface far from what the typical Airbus FMGS is and some good add-ons for FSX model...

So, for those that say they still feel better in FSX / P3D, if this type of flying is what they're up to, I have to agree and accept their point... :-/  and hope that X-Plane 10 and it's best addons get better with time... I will patiently wait :-)

I bought XP last week and part of the reason I did was because of how amazing the 777 addon looked (amongst other reasons of course). The hype has matched the reality and I am very pleased with my purchase! To think that a couple of guys have almost matched what PMDG take half a decade to make in a year or so is amazing. Very talented.

since day 1, I never had a problem with VNAV     have you installed it correctly?

I have both the A320 and the Boeing 777. Although, I am loving the A320 alot more than the triple 7 right now, I would say go for the triple 777 first as it seems more completed and just overall better than the A320. But saying that the a320 is geting updates at a steady rate and soon will be ,likely, my favourite plane but saying that the 757 will be out soon.
