beta notes: You don't have time to fly longhaul? think again!

Featured Replies

A question to long haul flyers: What do you do when you take off and have 12 hours left in your flight?

Since I always fly on vatsim it's not easy! :D I usually read some manuals, watch TV on the screen next to the flight sim screen, nod off (...), drink cognac and beer, reactivate autopilot and chase away the cat that had deactivated it, keep telling my wife that I am soon about to land so I will quit soon (rrrright) and then get the evil eye from here when she wakes up and notice I am still flying at 5 AM. The biggest problem will be though that FSX usually doesn't stay alive for more than a couple of hours (that's why I usually fly FS9 on vatsim) which will limit my options!

Great and very useful feature !!!

Sam.

Waiting for the 64-bit PSION Flightsim for ZX-Spectrum ////

That is just what I needed. I can't have more than 2 hours of free time and was wondering how to use the t7 in long hauls.

It's a nice feature and what not, but in my opinion the 'meaning' of longhaul sudden goes away somehow. If I first set my mind and time to fly - let's say EGLL-KBOS - I for sure want to do it all the way, instead of taking off, push a button, eat dinner and then land. But hey, we're all different souls here, and what some like doesnt others like :)

Anyways, it's good to see some pictures and movies of this beast - hopefully it won't be much longer!

I for one will certainly be using this feature! Thanks PMDG!

One quick question, normally in FSX after you switch back from a fast time acceleration you get the black screen and loading bar while the sim sorts itself out, does this happen with the auto time function?

To those saying its unrealistic to use this function... how realistic is it to drink alcohol and go out to clubs etc during the long haul flight, don't think there's many airline pilots that do that!! ;) Surely you should all be sat in the cockpit monitoring the instruments ?!! ;)

Time acceleration for me is blasphemous but hey whatever floats your boat.

No but then again in the real world pilots do get rest and sleep periods :)

Great to see support of this nature! It is a good idea indeed. I have max. 4 hours in general in the evening, if I am lucky, normally only 3 hours though. I don't really see myslef using this function, as I will just perform shorter routes...When I do get the time and inclination, I am sure I would take her on longer trips, but nothing much over 8 hours, as I just don't have the inclination to sit in front of my PC that long... even with breaks away...

So, my max flight would be something like UK - Dubai, or Europe - East Coast US...

Plenty of options for me. I am really looking forward to the release, just like everyone else here!

I just imagine coming home from the club at 5am with a girl and then ask her to take a nap for an hour because I have to land my plane after its long haul flight first. Guess it could be a mood-breaker. :Broken Heart:

I fly @ x1. To those that use time acceleration, why not just go into the World menu in FSX and move your aircraft to where you want it to be on the Map? Isn't it achieving the same thing?

It's a bit different - the most obvious difference is that you will respawn in the new position with the exact same amount of fuel you had before the shift.

New video every Thursday: Aircraft Lighting - Boeing 777

Sounds like a really cool option! Maybe one question about AI traffic - if you speed up FS to 8x and back to normal speed FS reloads the traffic. So while using this auto compression feature FS will constantly reload my AI traffic?

Thanks for your great work!
