Tampa Walk-Around

Recommended Posts

I know you all are itching to get up close and personal w/ the 777.  It will be worth the wait... but here's something to serve as a bit of a respite.  Imagine yourself part of the crew of a corporate PMDG 777LR.  We have been lucky enough to use Stand F90, as the BA arrival is still hours away.  You leave the flight deck and the stairs await....

You begin at the left forward fuselage, checking for probes, drains, vents, panel doors, O2 disc and fwd outflow

You move to check the Radome, diverter strips and forward access door

It's off to the nosewheel where you inspect the wheels and tires, gear strut and doors, NWS assemblies, gear pin, towing lever and pin, exterior lights, light switches and the forward E&E door

Moving to the right forward fuselage you look to make sure the negative pressure relief vent is closed

The scimitar blades are clattering in the morning breeze, can you hear them? ;)

Scan the right leading edge.  Are the access panels and fuel sticks flush and secure?  Examine the slats, wing surfaces and fuel tank vents

it's a walk to get to where you can see the trailing edge....check the lights, strobes, static wicks, fuel jettison nozzle, aileron, flaperon and trailing flaps...now imagine it all in flex!

It's time to move into the shade... something you are glad for on this warm Tampa morning.  Examine tires, brakes, wheels, gear struts, actuators, doors, lines, pins and the wheel well..... Have you ever seen such big shoes?

Moving to the right rear fuselage you look for the RAT door, probes, sensors and drains....all ok.

Time to stretch those legs.... the tail is 209 feet from the radome.... you'll appreciate the walk 12 hours into your flight though :)

Beautiful shots! Thanks for sharing. The amount of detail on the exterior is incredible. I especially love the reflections off the airframe.

We continue, heading up front, and closer to a cuppa..the left rear fuselage.. checking the aft outflow

A bit more shade to the left gear... check everything just like the right side

Into the scorching sun for a glance down the left trailing edge

106 feet and change out to the left wing tip

ETOPS certification or not, it's nice to have two engines running....examine it all, you can't poke your head outside later :)

End up at the left wing root...almost done

That's it... walk up, check in with the boss, and hopefully a leggy blonde will have a cuppa and a few biscuits waiting ;)

Next stop EGKK!

Hi Carl!

Thank you for sharing!

What program do you use to get those angels when taking shots? :-)

And a walk around on the 777 takes a bit longer than on the 737 I can imagine. :-)

Details right down to the markings on the tires.  PMDG has struck gold once again.

Excellent shots and what a fabulously detailed exterior she has lol

This brings back memories as I flew TPA-LGW back in 2006. It was an interesting flight as about 15 mins after departure we had a TCAS alert and had to descend 600ft to avoid the traffic. It shook up a lot of passengers and took out a couple of flight attendants who had just started their service They were laid up in the business cabin in front of me and the remainder of the flight was unusually quiet.
