Voice commands for Flaps

Recommended Posts

Hi Bryan,

as for me, I have a Voice recognition of 99%. The only thing I always hang is the "Flaps Zero" command after Take off.

Is it possible to add a second possible command like "Flaps UP" into FS2Crew.

I know this command from an other Voice Version (Ifly737) and it works 100%

Same here. I would love to use the ol' "Flaps Up" command again. I just don't get the F/O to fully retract the flaps. "Flaps Zero" somehow doesn't get recognized correctly.

Make sure you're above S speed.

However, it must be your accent.  Try saying "Flaps zero" with more of an american accent and check the Green Bar to ensure it's been detected.

I can add "flaps up" easily.

However, try this first:

Problem: Speech recognition is having problems detecting certain words.  Can I train the speech recognition system for "specific" words?

Solution:

  1. Yes, you can use the dictation facility in Windows.
  2. First, start 'Windows Speech Recognition' (this is not the FS2Crew Speech Recognition system, but rather the speech recognition system that comes with Windows).
  3. Open a text document.
  4. Next, dictate a list of words you are having trouble with.
  5. Every time the speech recognizer makes a mistake, use the "CORRECT THAT" voice command.  This effectively train the speech recognition engine to recognize how you pronounce these words.  You may need to dictate and correct the same words multiple times until the recognition rate improves.

There is another way (and better way) to train specific words as well for Vista and Win 7 users:

         1. Open the Microsoft Windows Speech Recognizer and RIGHT CLICK the microphone icon.  You can open the Windows Speech Recognizer by typing "Speech Recognition" in the search for programs box in the start menu.

          2.  Click "ON: Listen to everything I say".  Next, Select "OPEN THE SPEECH DICTIONARY" and select "ADD A NEW WORD".

          3. When done, turn
off
Windows Speech Recognition.  It CANNOT be running while using FS2Crew.  It must be OFF!

Hi Bryan,

Thanks a lot for these tips. I added all the "Flaps" commands to the speech dictionary as described above. Works perfect now! Whoohoo!

Strangely enough I was one of the beta testers and I always used "flaps up" without a problem.

That would have been technically impossible :-)

The speech recognition system must have heard 'Flaps Zero' out of that.

Cheers,

Every time I say "flight level pull",

FO understands it as "flight level four"

This screws up my flight.   The airplane sinks to 400 feet !!! of course I did try the speach dictioary thing above. But same result.

And I didn't say "set" .  According the manual,  "set flgiht level xxx" is for level change.

So the "flight level xxx" should not work for FO action.

in manual ==========================================================

- FLIGHT LEVEL PULL (FO PULLS THE FLIGHT LEVEL KNOB IF THE FLIGHT LEVEL KNOB IS NOT IN THE PULLED POSITION.)

- FLIGHT LEVEL XXX (USED TO "ANNOUNCE" THE FLIGHT LEVEL YOU HAVE MANUALLY SET)
- SET FLIGHT LEVEL XXX (USED TO SET THE FLIGHT LEVEL IN THE FCU IF THE FLIGHT LEVEL IS ALREADY VISIBLE)

==================================================================

"Flight level xxx" without "set" is just an ANNOUNCE. FO should not control altitude knob !!

"Pull speed" and "Pull heading" works well.

But "Flight level pull" is hell. Maybe fs2crew can add more clear command. Like a "Pull flight level"

"Pull flight level" is not similar with "Flight level four" at all. I wish to fs2crew adds this !!!

Pull speed

Pull heading

Pull flight level ( I wish one)

It's unity.

Hi Mr Kim,

The phraseology used comes right out of the Airbus manuals, so it's technically proper.

It's probably just your Korean accent because it works fine for me.

Try to say "pull" with an American accent.  For Asians, I can see 'pull' sounding like 'four'.

Even better, try this method to train for specific words:

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/372413-the-new-way-to-train-the-speech-recognizer-for-specific-words-like-auto/

Also, if the FO does something you don't want him to do, use this command to stop him:

"CANCEL LAST COMMAND".
