Ocean Weather

Recommended Posts

I am curious about opus' depiction of weather over large bodies of water. I really hope it is not like previous engines that map the same weather from the departing coast all the way to the arriving coast. thoughts?

Opus is unique in that it builds and maintains a weather map extending 800 by 800 miles. The resulting weather map means you always have very good weather interpolated and injected over an extensive region into the sim. We do not rely on the very poor FSX weather interpolation. Where there are very few or no Met stations, the Opus weather map is continually expanded until it encompasses enough Met stations to make a reasonable attempt at interpolating the weather.

As far as upper winds and temps are concerned of course the grib data is worldwide and has a resolution of 1 degree lat and one degree lon so no interpolation is required.
