I've just done a fresh install of fsx and acceleration and all is well, no activation issues.

It works quite well, and will not be shut down until several years after MS quits selling FSX either through brick-and-mortar stores, and via their on-line store.

Do we even know if MS uses separate servers for FSX activation? FSX is just one of many products that require activation, it seems more likely to me that when you activate FSX, you'd be hitting a server on which other people are activating other MS products also. If I'm not mistaken, all MS product keys are in the same format.

Just speculation, of course, but if I'm right, then there's probably no great overhead for MS in letting those same servers continue with activating FSX along with everything else.

The phone activation doesn't activate FSX ONLY. It also activates Office, GFWL, etc. It's the same number for all those products.
