I'd say that maybe it would be interresting for both sides to partner with Dovetail Games in order to make the best damn flight sim ever (pun intended !), but I really don't know if it's possible...

Anyway I'm keeping an eye on both projects !

I will probably buy both. I buy them all then decide which ones to keep.

So fat I have:

FS9

FSX

XPlane9

P3D v1.4

AeroFly FS

MS Flight

FSX SE

Only ones I use much are FSX SE and MS Flight

Only reason I don't fly Aerofly FS much is I can't drag the GPS map off the main screen to a second monitor. With a big map in my face I can't see the world and that isn't fun. If the ADF or VOR worked that would be ok but with no way to navigate without the big map up on the main screen or the names printed all over the view. I contacted the FS widgets guys for possibly making GMap compatible but they said no. Not enough market (even though they did one for MS Flight). At least GMap can be dragged of the main screen.

To me, that looks ... flat. No autogen is a dealbreaker for me!

Aerofly has never been big on Autogen.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I agree, it's going to have a hard time competing with the other sims if everywhere is flat (it makes the scenery seem lifeless). In v1, they did have some autogen, but it was limited to areas around some of the airports. I hope they don't go down this route.

But maybe they will make aerofly so open that you tony can use your own software to make autogen for us?

Autogen is only welcome if it's any good. That rules out anything like the FSX/P3D default autogen. Ton'y's X-Plane stuff (based on what I have seen in screenshots) looks a lot better, as does complete custom autogen (like in the Earth Simulations products). In short, if a completely new flight simulation product is going to convince me to part with my cash, then it needs to be the complete package. It doesn't need to cover the entire globe, but it does need to render a completely convincing landscape filled with interesting (and realistic) 3D objects.

Optimistic? Probably, but there is no harm in dreaming.

Looks great to me.  It seems from that screenie the only thing missing is the fake autogen buildings.  Easy enough to add, and sometimes I choose to fly with all autogen buildings off.

That's the hope. I've heard they are allowing third-party developers. In what form, I don't know.
