August 19, 201312 yr A naive question : does FSX show more vertical space, more pixels to show the external view and the upper instruments, in 16:10 (for instance 2560x1600 or 1920x1200) than in 16:9 (2560x1440 or 1920x1080) or just stretch the same display ? Thanks for your comments Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
August 19, 201312 yr In the VC the only distortion comes from the zoom. So at the same level of zoom, you will see more vertical (120 pixels more for 1200 vs 1080)for the same horizontal. You're just looking at the world through a bigger window. 16:10 is definitely better than 16:9 because it will allow you to see a little more of the instrument panel and the view outside simultaneously, but since 1080p is the standard, they are probably harder to find. If you are using 2D cockpit and they made the window for 16:9 than yes, you will be slightly distorted at 16:10. Get a 16:10 monitor if you are a VC flyer, and if you can still find a good one.
August 19, 201312 yr The Dell Ultrasharp U3011 30" is native 16:10, awesome quality but very expensive...
August 19, 201312 yr Author Thanks again, having 11% more real estate in the vertical dimension seems then like a good idea and I use only the VC. Dell has a 16:10 30 incher (not cheap though ).
