Had my pilot hopes dashed when I was around 16 and the basketball coach from the Air Force Academy that was recruiting me informed me that 6'5" was a hard limit to being a pilot

But I get to look down on everyone I meet, so it all evens out, right?

I had the same problem there. I also had hope for the Aiforce but the max was 1,91 in the Netherlands. 

I became a geography teacher instead.
