November 16, 200421 yr Hello Cliff,I shall install Toni Agramont's Spain addon scenery for FS2004 and will let you know. I was also interested in a good rendition of Mutxamiel private airport near Alicante. This airport was part of Toni Agramont's Spain addon for FS2002.Did you the mail I left on your AVSIM's mailbox regarding your previous question on this forum about a moving map of the Costa Blanca. I was proposing to scan the map of our region when I'm back in Belgium and use it for some of the suggestions that were made in response to your question. We are at the Cabo de la Nao (Urbanizacion Balcon al Mar) in Xabia and drive often by Teulada when going to visit our spanish friends in Benissa. We bought some of our furniture in Teulada. Since my wife and I are retired we spend about 3 months in the year in Spain.Have a good sunny day,J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
November 16, 200421 yr There are lots of new voice sets added in the upgrade procedure.I did not find them "crappie" but they are processed to sound like typical low-fi aircraft radio communications frequently high-pitched somewhat and occasionally scratchy for the avergage GA installed radios. It varies from controller to controller.I do not have much of a problem with clarity/comprehension of instructions.
November 16, 200421 yr Hello Cliff, just a quickie before we leave for Benissa: I installed Toni Agramont's Spain scenery and made a quick flight from Mutxamiel towards Cabo de la Nao: it's not bad but I do not have a good mesh installed on my notebook. I have FSGlobal 2005 in Belgium, but forgot to take it along to Xabia. As you have FSGlobal 2005 you might want to give it a try.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
April 18, 200620 yr Commercial Member >1. This is a bug. The workaround is to reload the flightplan>and set the 13.000ft as your cruising altitude. It's not entierly a "bug"... it'sa $60 program that doesn't have the ability to look ahead adn anticipate that you will have to climb later to meet a minimum-crossing altitude for terrain while still trying to give you a standard profile descent into destination. that's why real air traffic controllers are human and paid a good salary and we haven't yet been replaced by a Microsoft product :-wave >>2. FS still cannot handle to vector you in an airport with a>lot of terrain around. Get some aproach charts and fly the>approach as published. That works fairly well. There was a>LOWI post a short time ago. Do a search. I provided URLs to>the charts needed.>>Alex>And then ther are those airports that FS9 vectors you to that, in the real world, have no radar coverage, or must be flown via a published procedure to landing anyway.ATC_Rob "To some the sky is the limit. April 18, 200620 yr Is VATSIM an option to you? It's pretty easy to get online if you haven't tried already.
April 19, 200620 yr Flight Simulator uses a grid system for the world - similar to the MSA altitudes marked on VFR charts. If you flew the mountainous regions of the world by those numbers, no one would ever be able to land at airports like LOWI.If your aircraft if flying below the MSA for the grid, the FS ATC will tell you to climb - the same as real ATC would tell you.If you arrive over the airport high, circle and descend at an appropriate rate. The FS ATC will not bother you if you have selected a proper approach. The very worst thing you can do flying in Flight Simulator is accept the default ILS approach, or default visual approach. That is a novice procedure built into FS for people who do not want to learn to fly realistic approaches.Always ask for a different approach - then fly that approach by the charts.
April 19, 200620 yr I can't fly to LOWI being vectored by atc either. They direct you right into a mountain. I use the approach charts instead (circle to land runway 8 is a real challenge in a jetliner, Kai Tak pales in comparison).
