August 27, 201312 yr Doesn't OTBD (Doha) have jetways? Never been there but it's a relatively newly build airport, isn't it? Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471

August 27, 201312 yr Commercial Member Doesn't OTBD (Doha) have jetways? Never been there but it's a relatively newly build airport, isn't it?No it doesn't, the new airport won't be open for a while. You have to drive around countless aircraft then around the runway and finally hang around waiting to walk up the stairs to board. I'm curios if any other airports in the world are like OTBD? It's like a giant coach station, except filled with brand new 787's 777's freighters and whole host of other huge beasts. I spend so much time there waiting for connecting flights to London from Bahrain, as much as I love aviation it's sometimes not much fun standing next to a 777's APU or A340's brake fans screaming when all you want to do is get onboard and sleep! August 27, 201312 yr Every time I travel, I check Lufthansa prices, and they are constantly more expensive than Emirates. So much about alliance. My next flight: emirates is more than twice cheaper than Lufthansa. Supply and demand, Lufthansa can afford to charge a premium, Emirates not so... Great trip report, really enjoyed reading it. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
August 27, 201312 yr Supply and demand, Lufthansa can afford to charge a premium, Emirates not so... Great trip report, really enjoyed reading it. Regards, Ró. If that's work for them, that's nice, but only thing that matter for me is price/service. In fact, I may skip Emirates in favor of Turkish; they are members of the same alliance as Lufthansa, with better prices. August 28, 201312 yr Great storyline to illustrate the T7, people should do some more of these "comic book" flights, I think it would be a popular format for new releases. Thanks! Since late last year, I have started to enjoy posting "diaries" of just about all my flights in the NGX in the Avsim Screenshots library, in a very similar fashion to the OP's. It's great to recount the memories of flights, and sharing the details is almost as fun as the flight itself! This post is one of the best preview threads I've ever read, especially the intricate details of the flight planning, the route, flaps settings, things that don't pertain so much to the release hype of the product itself but prepare us by describing the differences between this bird and the NGX most of us spend most of our time flying. Also, the variety of shots, the perspectives used, it's a work of art! I hope to see more posts like this in the future. A.J. Domingo
