A2A Accu-Sim Cessna 172 may be out "within the week"

I never succeeded to push C172 in FSX above 105kts at 5000ft cruise, even with tailwind. I really don't know how you guys do it.

I hope there is an option for no GPS.  Trust me, at 90kts, you have plenty of time to look out the window and at your sectional to figure out where you are    Especially in a training aircraft it would be good to build on dead reckoning skills.  I imagine A2A will offer a variety of avionics options for those with RXP..etc.

There is.

Great! I stopped using the GPS a while ago and fly using VOR and NDB only. Lots of fun and much more rewarding when you reach your destination. Also gives you something to do while flying! Following that red line on the GPS is so boring...  B)  ^_^

I thought the Flight1 version did a pretty good job or am I mistaken?

If I would buy this bird, it is for two reasons: future P3D support (and now) and something to fill my speed range between my Baytower RV-7 and the slow going Marcel Felde Kanata X.  Flight 1 planes are nogo for me because of their stand in supporting P3D.

Let's hope this bird will be smooth over ORBX scenery!  I took the RealAir Decathlon out over ORBX Milford Sound and lo and behold I got stutters, yes stutters, with a non complex GA!

I'm personally interested in any aircraft that is simulated well, with equal attention to visuals, sound (often neglected), flight characteristics and good PC performance.       Whether it's a Cub or Concorde, if it has that kudos, then I'm in!

A2A aircraft in the past definitely deliver that X-Factor of feeling very real, and this one looks like it will reach even higher standards.

Every single switch, knob and lever features a unique sound recording of that exact unit with the real aircraft  - that's commitment!

I'm with you, Dave.  I have many aircraft in my FSX hangar that I have no interest in real life.  Any company that produces an advancement in the simming experience has my support.   A2A and PMDG (and a few others) stretch and tear the envelope with every new release.  I'm old enough to appreciate the advancement of the computer from the very first days, and it still amazes me what can be done.

+1000000!

I take this very pragmatic:

GPS is being used in real world flying nowadays - right?

Under many circumstances it may not essential - correct - But:

It is often still available then as it is installed into many, many planes now.

So in regards to a simulation(!) it would simply be a bit weird to not make it at least available for the sim as well!

"I don't use that, ... i don't like that" is okay for each and every individual liking, but if a product as excellent as this A2A C172 will most likely turn out to be, ignores something as common nowadays as a GPS, it, in my opinion, simply leaves out a "part of current aviation-reality" in a flightSIM!

I therefore would surely respect, but also consider it a bit odd if A2A would leave the GPS aside.

And from a simmers and customers point of view:

It is also good that A2A implements a GPS into its forthcomming C172 and even offers the chance to add a RXP one, because the choice is then up to to everyone out there to use the GPS or not - and it's great to have choices.

As is easy as that.

I like it!

Cheers Christoph

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

Getting a bit off topic, but only with flight simulation, does GPS get boring. Afterall, following a magenta line, over sometimes boring and repetitive scenery........does get boring. So pull out the charts, draw those interesecting lines, and roll the dials to find the proper direction. It's something to do. But...........it's a flight simulation, or student pilot thing...

In real life these days, it's all about accuracy, within a few feet, and right now! There is much more restrictive airspace than in those old days. There is more efficiency in direct routes. Terrain mapping GPS has decreased the flight into terrain accident rate, by a very noticeable margin. With GPS, there is more time to scan for traffic & birds. More time to see interesting features farther in the distance. Your exact position, fuel range, altitude, and weather options can be seen in a glance. If you don't blindly follow that line, and follow along on your flight plan/charts........you'll always know exactly where you are. It's an increased awareness, that wasn't available before.

So, yes, following that line on a flight sim, isn't the most rewarding. And simulated GPSs are not usually up to the standards of present day real life GPSs. I consider the 430/530's to be quite old, in regards to technology, let alone, some of those ancient Bendix Kings, like the KL90B (or whatever it was).

I've been a real life GPS fanatic since 1993. I learned to fly before the GPS invention, or before man went to the moon. But I'd never find them as boring.....in the real life scheme of things.

Let me be clear that I have nothing against GPS's but in FSX I recently started to fly only with VOR and NDB simply because it keeps me entertained! I like to plot a flight and then fly it while keeping my eyes on all the relevent gauges all the time. Everytime I find my destination it gives me a satisfied feeling. Funny thing is that I used to do flights that were 40 to 80 nm with GPS but with VOR and NDB's my flight are getting longer and longer (around 150 nm) because it's so much fun staying on course for a longer period! The further away the destination is, the more fun it is and the more rewarding, specially when it has no VOR or NDB on site.

I would nevertheless had been disappointed if this new 172 or any new addon plane had come without a GPS (unless it's a very old plane, obviously) and I certainly wouldn't DREAM of ever flying in real life without GPS. Not that I ever fly in real iife but I am certain I wouldn't want to fly without a GPS (unless I was only flying circles around an airport!).

So my statement was just about my current personal preference when it comes to flying in FSX! Nothing more. Anyway, because of this I like it that apparently the GPS can be removed completely from this version. In the Legacy (the only plane I fly right now) I simply leave the GPS turned off but I always thought it would have been nice if I could completely remove it.

And just to be clear (for Wolke85), this A2A 172 is coming with a GPS.... .... the guys are just talking about an option not to have the GPS in the panel.

Perhaps A2A will offer a 1957 172 variant, that would make the anti-GPS-ites happy.

I would like C172N

I thought they'd do an older model 172 actually. I was expecting RealAir to do something like this, hopefully RealAir is doing something different. Would be nice to support them both.

Can't wait to fly low and slow over Orbx territory with the C172 by VOR/NDB and just maps. Love the Cub but never got all those warbirds no matter how great they probably are. Military aircraft just don't appeal to me. Enough about that. Bring on video 2.  :Applause:

All I am asking for is an option to remove the GPS.  If I were a CFI these days I would remove the GPS fuse from the fuse panel and disable the GPS for my students.  The most fundamental VFR navigation ability is looking out the window and recognizing landmarks, then  comparing those landmarks  on your sectional.  Following roads, rivers, powerlines...etc is one of the most basic navigation forms taught.  I wouldn't want my students fixated on the GPS when they should be looking out the window, looking for landmarks and other traffic.

Indeed it's very tempting to look at GPS screen if it's available. I think there is on/off switch at GPS so you can leave it off if you like.

Perhaps you, as well as several others here, missed the post by "some1" from A2A. You will have the option to have no GPS installed.
