A2A Accu-Sim Cessna 172 may be out "within the week"

Undecided on including a GPS or not, but I'm tempted to skip it and do it the hard way

The C172 may be faster than the Cub but it's still rather slow so I will definitely fly without GPS otherwise everything will become rather boring pretty soon, I think. And if I ever want to use a GPS I will use the mounted one on the left, which keeps the radiostack as it is without GPS. Throwing a GPS in and out of that radiostack spoils the idea of realism. ^_^ That mounted GPS can be mounted during flight (afaik) which could be possible in real life too.

I will have to get used to another way of planning my flights though: right now I can plan a flight in Plan-G without thinking about it and it will have the exact right length for flights with my current plane, the Legacy. But with the C172 I will have to plan much shorter flights, something like 50% of what I was used to with the Legacy, otherwise the flights will become too long. I hope I can get used to the scenery passing by so slowly. ^_^

Well I am super excited about flying the 172. I really really enjoy taking the Cub for a spin, but kept wishing that A2A would surprise us by announcing a Super Cub expansion for it. That would have been perfect imo. As good as the Cub is, I just can't bear to fly for long being so painfully slow. The 172 on the other hand have me already well on the way planning my first crossing of USA starting in Maine heading west. Combining FTX Global, UTX, FS Genesis and REX with the 172 has finally pushed me over into doing it. And I can't wait to get going. Undecided on including a GPS or not, but I'm tempted to skip it and do it the hard way. :)

I'm looking at this plane as a needed change of pace from what I normally do.  I started out, and continue using FSX as tool to experience aircraft that most of us would never get the opportunity to fly in real life.  Look Ma, I'm flying a 737!  My flight simulation has always been oriented towards the more complex, commercial airplanes, but I've forced myself to fly the GA in equal measure to make sure that I remain well-rounded and don't just become a magenta boy.  The A2A Cessna is one of those airplanes that is probably perfect to accomplish that, although my heart and inspiration in flight simulation will always remain with the bigger planes.

The C172 may be faster than the Cub but it's still rather slow...

Slow is fine with me.  I like to fly my local area, which means finding my way into, out of and around Washington, DC airspace.  The longer it takes me to run into restricted areas... or, better, to realize I'm about to before it happens... the less I'll have to do with the virtual FAA, not to mention the virtual DC Air National Guard... and the happier I'll be...

BTW, I only fly the Cub when I'm on "vacation" in other areas.  No transponder = no go in my part of the world.  Sad, but that's the way it is...

There are certain flights that I find even the 737 too slow; so for those flights I use the F/A-18 Hornet. I used to fly the Xtreme Prototypes X-15, but when it came to landings there didn't seem to be a runway long enough!

I always find lower and slower more enjoyable, in terms of actual flying. Commercial airliners are mainly fun for the systems simulation and navigation planning beforehand. Otherwise, five minutes off the ground and you're already thousands of feet above all that lovely ORBX scenery!

What the C172 represents is the ability to get both the flight and touring joy of GA, and the systems fun of CA, so I see A2A's efforts as really bridging that gap in a revolutionary new way.

I don't mind low n slow... but I prefer a faster slow.... RV7/Legacy/Duke etc hehe

We are SO lucky A2A didn't release a DC-3 as well!

Now your talking........................

$75, that's my bet!

Huh that is amusing. I had a dream last night (our Saturday night).  Very vivid -  and it translated to A2A 172 was going to be charged at $77 - but I cannot recall in the dream if that was in US Dollars or NZ Dollars...

And yes, I know,  counselling is just around the corner.

Here ya go, Dave - reminds me of starting the old Mini on a cold mornin'.

See what we're missing, Scot? Lewis? Huh? You just don't care about us old farts, do you?

Well I'm not Dave, but thanks for the pointer to that one anyway, Paul.  Beautiful music, that!

While I have all of the Accusim aircraft and love every single one of them (especially the Piper Cub) I've never been more excited about one of A2A's products than I am now for the C172. It's anything but boring to me. I can't wait to get my hands on it and fly some hyperrealistic cross country trips that will feel much more real to me than flying some high performance bird like the P-51, which probably already is a quite surreal experience in real life.

Thanks Paul, It's like taking a drug. hehehehe.    C'mon A2A you know it makes sense and it will be the most popular one you ever did!

but I'm actually more exited about this than the T7 from PMDG!

Yep Yep me too!

Couldn't agree more. A P-51 is something John Travolta or Tom Cruise could fly around in. ;) I'll most likely never even see one in real life, so give me a 172 any day. Might even get to fly one in say 5-10 years if I'm lucky. :)

Something I've yet to see anyone comment on: Having a plane that ages even when the computer is off is going to be like having an airplane in real life as in, one is going to want to fly it regularly to keep it in shape, just like IRL. A real airplane one is pumping cash into just to own it, well, one is going to want to make that cash useful in flight time. If I owned a real airplane, I'd feel guilty if I didn't get a lot of time in it, just to justify the price spent. This A2A 172 is going to make me NOT skip my flight time on my weekends, because it's going to age, and require maintenance even when I don't boot the 'puter. Lately, I've been doing a circuit or two around the patch and then go to bed. This airplane is going to make me go places, to justify the aging.

Hope that makes sense.
