FSXAssist Current Build - Readme and Download Links

Recommended Posts

SkyPilot Software is pleased to announce that FSXAssist 1.08 has been released!

Build 1.08 helps to remove the FSX stop sign after an FSX crash recovery and also adds code to help alleviate the JoyStick dropout behavior which is prevalent for Windows 8 users.

While we at SkyPilot don't believe that the controller dropout issues are solved 100% we feel that this release will be appreciated by many users with consistent controller dropouts.

Caveats:  Although this latest version of FSXAssist will ensure reconnection of controllers (even if they are unplugged and plugged in again) there are a few things to keep in mind.  First is that if you are using EZDOK you will need to reset your controller in the EZDOK configuration app.  Simply set your controller to 'none', save and then reselect your active controller.  Second, if you are running any controller mapping applications such as SAITEK profiler, you will need to reset your active profile.  You will know to do these if you notice that your configured buttons no longer work or you can no longer pan. Unfortunately this functionality is beyond the scope of FSXAssist and cannot be reenabled directly.

The good news is that FSXAssist Build 1.08 will help to ensure that your yolk and sliders stay active.

Crash Detection:  While it was stated earlier that FSXAssist Crash Detection (uncheck the Close On Load option) was required for the controller dropout fix this is no longer true.  In any case we still recommend unchecking the Close On Load option as it will ensure a clean FSX restart.  If that happens you will need to apply the reassignments mentioned in the Caveats above.

SkyPilot is offering the FSXAssist build 1.08 as a no-cost upgrade to current customers or it can be be purchased at a low cost of $12.95 to new users.
