November 11, 200421 yr Yes, I think the cloud shadows are missing!!!! Also moon light being reflected on the ocean brightly at night or during overcast conditions in day time leave me wondering where the sun is or moon is! Also on land there is sun during overcast conditions. When its overcast a darker environment is what you'd expect......Also even on clear nights I think the environment is darker than MSFS.But MSFS has done well to make some decent clouds. (I am very happy that I upgraded from FS2002...)Danielwww.danielmcaloon.tk

November 11, 200421 yr >Man, I am so close to plunging in myself. The ONLY thing>that is making me hold is the dismal showing of the US Dollar>versus the Euro. US buyers have a disadvantage at SimMarket>at the moment.I had the same thought: wow, sounds great! Then when I was coming home from work I heard that the euro is now at an all-time high against the dollar. Sure enough, Active Sky is now almost 40 US dollars. Not that it's all bad: if you're an American company selling overseas, it means there are more people who can afford to buy your stuff. Not so good, though, for European exports. One concern I have is how well my machine will run the program. I know you limit the number of cloud layers. Would it be possible, though, to release something like the Active Camera demo? I don't know that I would pick Seattle for a weather demo, but something similar would help people like me (a) see what all the fuss is about and (:( find out whether they can enjoy all the fuss on their hardware.
November 11, 200421 yr Hi,A full featured demo is in the works. I do not know if and when it will be released!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
November 12, 200421 yr Wolfgang,Infomercials? That may be a unique way of looking at it. :-) The users on this board are pretty savvy about what they buy and warning others when there is a product NOT worth buying. When I see several FS Meteo customers raving about AS2004.5, it makes me take notice. I can't remember a recent posting where several AS2004.5 users were saying they are moving to FS Meteo.I'm not trying to rate one weather product better another, I'm just saying that I trust the user community here and if 10 or 20 users say something great about a product, I'm willing to listen and give it some consideration. Every purchase I've made after reading recommendations by multiple users has been very satisfying. For example, I held off on the PMDG 737 during it's first couple of service updates. But when the third one came out and people starting raving about it (the same that were slamming it earlier), I knew it was time to buy it. It's become my #1 aircraft ever since. As for "infomercials", I would consider them to be a single posting that gets little or no response, especially when it has a glowing testimony worthy of someone related to the developer ;-)Bruce

Still, it would be reassuring (given the price) to know what kind of performance to expect. Not that this is standing in the way of sales -- given the response to this thread, ActiveSky seems to be selling pretty briskly.
November 12, 200421 yr Hi,Most users experience little or no performance drop. Of course even a t-storm with default weather may cause a drop. There are many user options that can be adjusted. Your system specs may help us!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
