Is it worth getting a 1440p monitor for FSX?

Recommended Posts

Hi, just wondering if a 1440p 27in monitor will make a difference over the 1080p 39in HDTV I currently use for FSX

Anyone? BTW I just invested in a 1440p 27"PLS monitor, got a good deal shipped from Korea. 6ms response time and overclockable up to 120Hz.

I was sitting too close to my 39" 1080p HDTV, I hope the new monitor makes a change on the experience. Any thoughts?

Hi Oscar!

I'm using a Hazro HZ27WC which is a 2560x1440 S-IPS 16:9 WQHD Panel and I find it great to have the extra pixels to both widen and to de-pixelate the screen.

Well it will be a lot smaller but more crisp and more frame rate demanding. Its all a trade off and depends on what you prefer the most.

I agree - it depends on your preferences.  Personally, I always prefer being closer to a higher resolution device.  Sitting close to a 36" 1080p device would make me crazy.

Thank you folks. The difference in screen size is not a problem. I want to hear from some of you who upgraded to 1440p from a 1080p screen and what advantages or disadvantages it gives in FSX.

What Oscar requested now pertains to my situation as well.  Anyone go from 1080p to 1440p?  Was it worth it, or was there too much impact on fps?

David, thanks for your reply.  Your 777 looks outstanding, and after looking at your computer specs I know why.  Your system is absolutely top notch, and mine is a few steps below.  I may purchase one and see how I get along, but may have to revert back to 1080p for performance reasons.

Try enabling HDR in 1080p first. The difference is quite staggering

Hi guys,

Can you give specific types of HD monitors you're using. I'm planning to upgrade my 24" screens to 32" 4K screens. I have a MSI Geforce 970. Will this run fluently ?

Hmm.. Granted it does look MUCH better, but with that criteria, why settle for 1440p when I can do 4k..?

If you have a GPU(s) and eyesight that can handle it than go for it!
