I never cease to be amazed by the quality of freeware aircraft.The Tu-144 available on Avsim today is truly amazing.I had all kinds of plans for this morning, but it's 3 pm and I am still tring to get to grips with this beauty.2D cockpit only but that suits me fine (not a great fan of VCs).Only problem I encountered was the dismal frame rates in the 2D cockpit (3-4 FPS as opposed to 19-20 with other aircraft).Changed my screen definition to a higher format and I now get 8-10 fps in 2D.Shouldn't be such a hit in the 2D cockpit though. Could be one or more gauges causing the problem.I'll get back ro my Konkordski now. Made my Sarurday. (sad? :-))

John, yeah I just flew it. You are right. It brought my 2.8 gig, 512 Meg Ram, Nividia FX 5200 to its knees. Beautiful aircraft and panel, but I could hardly get it off the ground at 1 frame every 2 or 3 seconds. Guess I will have to tweak things to get the frames up.

I won't give up with this one, Tom.As I said in my post, running FS at a higher screen definition increased my frame rates in the 2D cockpit to 8-10. Go figure!I sent a "thank you" e-mail to the developers and mentioned the frame rate. Will let you know their response.

Same frame rates here as everyone has already reported. It is a beauty, very detailed and obviously a lot of work went into it.I think the frame rate problem is due to a very detailed panel with loads of instruments. I think I will wait and see if an update comes out that increases the frame rates. I uninstalled it for now because I really can't fly at 4fps!

I agree Nigel.However, I am running a fairly old PC here P4 1.7 MHz, 512 MB ram and a Nvidia GeForce3 with Windows ME to boot!I am now getting an average of 12 fps in the 2D cockpit which is quite flyable. I normally (with other aircraft)get 19-24, depending on the scenery.I did add a line "PanelAsTexture=0" in Fs9.cfg under the DEVICE heading. Don't know if this did the trick, but I'm just happy I can fly the beast.
