Anyone break the 777 yet?

Recommended Posts

Title says it all. Has anyone ruined Roberts new 777 yet?

I just landed 1/2 mile short into Las Vegas and coated some houses in aluminum and jet-A. I can't imagine I'm the only one that's trashed a perfectly good 772 today. Anyone else have any interesting stories about mis-managing their 777?

One of my co-workers told me he spent nearly an hour just trying to get the panel powered up from cold and dark. Let's hear some more mishap stories.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

This is probably the most minor of minor details, but...

PMDG Setup > Options > Sound -> Under Device, the font isn't the usual CDU font we're used to looking at.

:p0304: I know, I know. I'll crawl back in my hole. Happily flying from LA to Dubai at the moment.

Ask the Beta Team to discuss tail strikes... :-)

I bet Kyle did the most Tailstrikes of all the Beta-Testers. :P

I broke the fmc yesterday (Program Pin error ) but i could not replicate it

Broke it how? It just stopped responding or shot back with "Program Pin Error."?

Good eye. Probably going to be fixed in v2 if the team cares enough about awkward fonts.

Ha! I got one of those as well but no idea how. FCOM is really useful on Program Pin Error, it basically just says you have a Program Pin Error :)

I haven't landed short (yet) but I did my share of go-arounds in early beta as I re-learned the technique for planting heavy jets. :)

Once you get the hang of it, I think it is an easier airplane to land than the NGX, but practice is required!

I had an autoland with autoland mode not engaged on my delivery flight ...

Was that a landing or an explosion?

I had an unexplained engine fail (with failures off) when setting up my throttles and the "Z" "Ctrl-Shift-Z" shortcut keys.  Not sure what happened but just reloaded and all was well.  First flight CYYZ-CYUL was generally smooth, had to hand fly the landing due to the incorrect ILS frequency issue but things went fine.

I recorded a hard landing when on first flightcheck yesterday evening, probably due to confusion of having forgotten to set key combinations for AP and A/T disconnect.

I got FedEx to loan me one to run Milan-Nice and back tonight with some ballast on board. Being rich in sim-world helps.
