I think the 747 v2 is much further along than we think....clue?

I was watching the Frooglesim video on the new PMDG Operations Center and I noticed in the menu he had one of the aircraft listed as 747.  Mine only shows J4100, NGX and 777.  So does this mean that that 747 v2 is much further along than we all believe?  Sounds like a some sort of Alpha or Beta has been pushed out to the beta testers.  Interesting!

Wasn't the T7 about 3 quarters of a year further along than even PMDG once had thought themselves?

 

Difference with the 744 is, there is one already we all can fly if we want to: v1.0. V2.0 will be ready when it's ready. (Thank you for your patience! :P)

I know Froogle is man of the moment lol, but I don't think he's sitting with the 747 V2 on his hard drive, and I don't think PMDG would be putting the 747 V2 into Alpha just a few days after the 777 release...... it would be a poor commercial decision to release the 747 V2 so soon after the 77 release, because it would generate a 'one or the other' position for a lot of buyers, whilst properly staggered releases are more likely to both be bought by the same buyer.

 

I reckon we are at least 1 year from PMDG 747 V2 release and that's fine by me;  Jeez we've only just gotten this amazing T7.

No, thank YOU Ollie :lol:   I'd venture to say the 744v2 is further along than most think like Mark said.  I never realized PMDG had such a big team (I believe there's 20 in all) which could allow for certain programmers/specialists to work between all the different upcoming aircraft in the coffers.  Just a random guess, but I'd say Nov 2014-Feb 2015 timeframe.   Does that sound about right Dave??

This is a pretty major point actually.

 

I know for myself - if I knew 747 would be out by Christmas... I would never care to buy the 777.

Going to shoot this down before it gets going:

 

The reason Pete had a 747 entry in the OC is that there were originally placeholder modules for the older products pre-J41 in the program. We made the decision not to support those products in the OC but they weren't deleted automatically by the program, the testers were supposed to delete the dll files in the OC folder for them manually. Apparently Pete missed one.

 

The 744v2 is nowhere close to release. Our focus is on fixing issues with the 200LR/F and then getting the 300ER out.
