hi all,

 

can anyone tell me if using Orbx Global does it also render the cities as close to the real world? or is Orbx only a landclass addon?

Its mostly a default texture replacement solution. Landclass is not included in the the Global base pack, but they are planning on rolling out LC addons in the near future. If you are looking for Global to represent cities as close to the real world for VFR flying, for example, then photoscenery may be a better option, or stick to Orbx regional addons, such as PNW.

ok thanks, just that i see in the screenshots the city representations are alot better than the default fsx version

FTX Global does seem increase the amount of autogen and in city areas this can make it look "busier", but it won't be a depiction that's any more accurate with buildings in the right places. Building facades/textures are better in my opinion so the buildings also look better.

 

For that you'd need to look at the Aerosoft Cities X products (just no nightlighting for anything except Las Vegas), the cities done by Drzewiecki Designs, or some of the freeware that offers additional landmark buildings.

 

Even with the LC products you'll get better zoning of residential vs commercail areas etc but I do remember that they also were talking about addon airports, but also cities being added to the add-ons that could be purchased down the track.

 

Photo scenery is also a good option, but if cities are your interest you might prefer to see them reaching for the sky rather than flattened.
