FS9 - Loss of Frame Rate on Approach & Landing - Help!!

Featured Replies

Hi,After a long time of fs burnout I tried today again after the patch and seeing the same problem again.I have it too during approaches, and with clouds, extreme slideshow.Personally I think the thing is bugged as hell. There is something what is leftover from FS98.In the old version performance degraded slowly untill a complete stop.It wasnt different in fs2000, 2002 and 2004, with many different systems in the meantime.Strange is when I goto fullscreen when in windowed mode, or vice verse the stutters are gone for a few minuts. With the AI I can imagine the extra cpu load, but with my simple clouds? When I for example any other game I have, and let it run for hours they all run fine, from the start to beginning. Only FS starts with a frame drop after a oceanic flight of many hours, or flying locally with many landings between.Something elementary is wrong.Johan

I had the same problem. Deleting the fs9.cfg took care of it, It's been 2 months and no bad fps to report.John

How could help that? whats wrong then in the cfg?Johan

The X800XT is a good idea if you have a mega multi pixel display attached. Nevertheless, I did find one AC in MT, which I'ld absolutely positively delete immediately, the DC10 VarigLog. My second 'boot-pick' is the Cessna C402 Golden Eagle. Perhaps remove these AC and retry the situation? Which MT version do you have? Good luck and kind regards Jaap

I have MT version 2.0 with the following database profile:No of series - 114No of types - 1251No of planes - 22340No of airports-5905 ....No of scheduled flights = 1No fo randon flights = 16636No of operations = 232404I have removed the two FPS hogs you mentioned...but I think I have a lot of LOD = 1 planes in the AI Traffic..it's hard to tell other than by the model of airplanes from add-on packages (CaptainSim/Pss/etc..).

JimI had similar problems running with a p4p4 2.8 and a 9800 pro. I purchased an x800 and really there was not that much gain on upping to a better video card. I did though have a tremendous improvement when I when I upped my MOBO to an Asus A8V and and AMD 3500+. If you have time read the post link below. I never pasted a topic so I hope I did this right. Check this out it may help. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ic_id=4303#4441Bob
