New Haswell Mini ITX Rig - Will See FSX Duty

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just got the parts in for my new Mini ITX Maximus VI Impact based home infotainment rig.  This will allow me to move back into my home office as my main SB-E rig is now mainly an iRacing platform.  It is also upstairs and far away from my home office which means that at night the wife and I are literally a house apart (we do lots of work on our PCs).  My Obutto R3volution racing rig is not an ideal setup for FSX (pain to switch wheel for yoke) so I am going back to a desk for FSX.  I have certainly not enjoyed having to take apart my racing rig to convert it to FSX and even when I do the 3 27" monitors just make it feel weird (stretching in peripheral vision).

I look forward to this "mini" build and seeing how this combo handles FSX.  I am planning on going full on FTX Global, Opus, FSDT (have almost all of them), REX, and PMDG.  From what I read here, thanks to your great community contributions, Haswell will do the job every bit as good as my monster rig upstairs (3930K).  I will gladly share my impressions on the build and comparing the feel of both systems on FSX duties.  I doubt I will do actual benching because of time and patience constraints but you just never know.

Please let me know if there is interest in this and I might even post some build pics.  Excuse the horrible cell phone shot below.
