Autocruise sped up to 128x speed?!

Featured Replies

I was flying from YSSY-KLAX going just fine at 8x in autocruise. I got up from my chair right before the triple 7 was about to initiate a an autostep climb from 350 to 370. When I got back, I came to find the airplane running at 128x speed, flying at 35,000 feet over Utah. It didn't even pause at TOD. Oh, and for some reason my brakes also got too hot, causing a wheel well fire. I have no idea what happened and I wasn't there to witness the whole thing. Has anyone seen this before?

What if that happened in real life?

Did you at any time manually accelerate the FSX rate, by pressing R+?

Nope, I just let autocruise do its thing.

Bumping this thread because autocruise just jumped to 128x again even when I've limited it to 8x on a flight from OMDB-VRMM. Is anyone else having this issue?

Ahh...

Looks like your Trip 7 came with the Ludicrous Speed option.  Grats!

Hot dang.  We have low flying astronauts.

Hey

Yeah same happened to me yesterday.  First time using auto cruise acceleration and was doing fine, until 128x speed.  Reset and tried again and did the same.  Losing control and sending me crashing to the ground in seconds.

Thanks Kevin. What WX program are you using? I'm wondering if that's the culprit.

Suppose the T7 would actually speed 128 x Mach .82 light Speed would still be about 8611 times faster than that.

imagine what ludicrous speed would be, only Lord Helmet knows.

Happened to me today too from 2X to 128X ......plane didn't respond

Well I thought to say here it's totally controllable through FMC, just set maximum acceleration to 2X or whatever required, leaving it on 128X causes the problem.

FYI for anyone having this issue I submitted a ticket and Ryan asked the team to look into it. If anyone can reliably reproduce this please post it in this thread, thanks!

Happen to me one time and the only difference between the others flight was that i was using delatava acars that restraint the speed to 4x max. and when autocruise speed up to 8x the acars retard to 4x and then for some reason goes up to 128x!!! i try without the deltava acars and no problems at all in the next 5 legs...i don´t think that was the problem but maybe is a hint.

Brakes got hot ???? Probably from trying to slow down from 10000 miles an hour :)

Same thing just happened to me, including the wheel well fire.
