Will REX Simair Experience be the new FSPassengers/Airhauler?

Featured Replies

any news then?

Nothing that I have heard or seen. Its been said by Tim Fuchs over on the REX forums that 2014 IS the year of Simair, I and a few others have speculated that they might announce something at a conference that they hosted.

I guess we are back to the waiting game for the next six months.

It's too bad rstough and timest (representatives of Rex apparently who commented on this thread a while ago ... and who were very surprised and sorry to hear we were disappointed about the slow rollout) haven't really clarified anything.

Maybe REX bought the MS Flight code?

Vaporware. I'm waiting on Air Hauler 2. SimAir was announced, what, 3 years ago? There's no reason that a trademark dispute would have any effect on development. This product will never be released IMO.

@MarkSC - Thank you for your thoughts.  But I can assure you and the other users that it is NOT vaporware and we think people will be extremely excited about what we are going to release when it is ready.

rstough:  I guess the big question that most of us are really interested in (even though we haven't asked in this specific post in several months) is when, more or less, is there going to be an official first release?

....

mean, is it going to be like 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, or more like 2015?  It's ok -- we can handle the truth.  I think we'd just rather that REX was honest about how far away it is than to feel like we've been teased .

@rstough:  Could you give us a very rough estimate -- maybe what quarter it might happen?  Could you at least tell us whether this is gonna be this year or 2015?  Like I said previously, it's alright, we can handle the truth -- we'd really prefer it in this case.  ;)

I'm waiting on Air Hauler 2. ... There's no reason that a trademark dispute would have any effect on development. ...

I have to say that I agree 100%. Trademark dispute has no effect on development. Once the dispute is over, one of two things should have happened:

a) the pruduct was released as branded

b) the product would have been launched under a different name

Neither of these two things happened, so either the development has hit serious performance issues or just full of bugs (or was intentionally put totally on hold for what ever reason).

I personally started following SimAir long ago on twitter, facebook and twitch. Those sites are all but dead.

This is why I have money waiting for Airhauler 2. Sorry REX, but you fumbled the ball too many times on this one.

why have there been no development updates in months on the simair site or emails?

  • SymAir?
  • SymAire?
  • SumAir?
  • SomeAir?

Just to keep the base homonyms near to the original, there's a dozen or so possibilities -- any of which would have passed legal review.

And if the dispute were ever settled in REX's favor, all's that's needed is a simple slight-of-hand "name change".  (Unlike "Darren" in Bewitched, which was a slight-of-hand "face change".)  <_<

Thank you all for your thoughts, opinions, and suggestions.  We at REX believe when SIMAIR is released it will be a game changer.

If you have any questions you would like to be answered, I would be happy to respond to any emails at:  [email protected]

However, from this point forward we will no longer be issuing any more statements about REX SIMAIR until we near the end of beta testing.

<snark="light">

Oh thank goodness we will never be subjected any longer to what's been the sheer nonstop bombardment of detail from REX Cental about SIMAIR, so we can all now relax until its arrival.  :Talking Ear Off:

Honestly, I don't know if I want to be in the camp that holds SIMAIR to "track the stress on each rivet and weld of the airframe in order to force an in-air pressurization failure" or to have SIMAIR "calculate the torrid interaction factor between the ground crew and the flight attendants so to calculate the impediment of cabin service to passengers."  It could well be both!

I just could never fold into the camps that had SIMAIR as a real-time voice-activated ATC replacement that was SID/STAR aware, or an AccuFeel-like simulator that would provide "wingflex" calculations for all aircraft, or even nothing more than a simple rebranding of FSX for "entertainment purposes" after the Licensing Deal had completed.   I'm certain that SIMAIR has to be more than all of these put together.

Although the recent perception that REX SIMAIR was nothing more than a P3D2.2 and XPlane10 emulator that would run within FS9 & FSX in order to triple the framerates and offer stutter-free triple-monitor ground shadowing did cause some goose pimples to erupt in some threads.
