September 21, 201312 yr Fixed. Frames are now sustained with dense weather! Thanks so much, Paul. David Zambrano, CFII, CPL, IGI I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.
September 21, 201312 yr SUPER!! :yahoo: :clapping: :drinks: I gad we got it fixed. I was sweating there for a while!!! All the Best! Peej Peej, Can you post your SweetFX settings? Those are amazing pics brother. Hahah! There's no SweetFX in any of them, Rob! That's REX cloud Textures, AS water and FS Global's (fabulous) Real Weather! I love it. It's always so real. I start it automatically, now - every flight, and that's something I never did before. This is part of the overall VB menu system which gives a selection of configs and apps to start. September 21, 201312 yr Next - where can post you NI settings, or perhaps, if you want to setup a fresh Inspector, download this one and import it into Inspector. I see you Allowed Negative LOD Bias and use a seting for it too. Interesting. I suppose this makes things a little bit sharper...? I might give this a try too. BTW Concerning NVIDIA Predefined FXAA Usage: if you set that one to Allowed, you will have (some) FSAA in the FSX Main menu too. At least that;s what it does for me. And I have Transparency Multisampling enabled: afaik that stil has an effect on fences and things like that.

SUPER!! :yahoo: :clapping: :drinks: I gad we got it fixed. I was sweating there for a while!!! What did you change there, Paul?! Thanks, Dirk.
September 21, 201312 yr Jeroen, so did it fix the AA in DX10 for you? Ehm... I never had problems with AA in DX10... or did I say something else somewhere else? LOL I am posting so much about all this on various forums and there are multiple topics about this alone on Avsim already that I am beginning to lose track of what I have said where. Anyway, FSAA works perfectly fine in DX10 (before and after the fixer: the Fixer doesn't do anything new in this regard: it only eliminates the need to edit the cfg manually: other than that nothing has changed).
September 21, 201312 yr does any one have here the full NVI settings recommended to use with DX10 + Fixer? it would be great if someone could post the settings now with the DX10Fixer that gives good picture but we can spare high settings and get some extra FPS due to the fixer. I use now the following (before the Fixer, not purchased it yet) and I get beautiful picture, however it might be a hefty price on FPS, not sure. Joel Strikovsky

September 21, 201312 yr You da Man! I'll give it a look and see if there's anything strange..... You da Man! I'll give it a look and see if there's anything strange..... Yup - a coupla things in the wrong spot, and I've changed or removed a few items, David. ...... So - export your old Inspector FSX profile, and import the new one, then copy the changed fsx.cfg into FSX, and start FSX, and let's see where she goes. ..... Hi Paul,I'm on the road reading these posts on my iPad and thoroughly frustrated that I can't be home at my PC. Hopefully tomorrow evening!! Thanks so much for all the helpful posts here, awesome!!When you edited the David's .cfg file, what did you do to it? I guess I could compare the "before" with the "after" versions, but I'm being lazy.... :)Also- I also use NI, but have never imported another FSX profile. Is this intuitive within the app? Is it necessary to export the old profile first? There is so much great information in these 9 pages of Avsim posts, I'm trying to distill the info I need to get something going when I get home. I have never tried DX10 at all (have been meaning to for ages, I need to find more time).... this Fixer sounds like a real winner. Thanks again for all your help. Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. September 21, 201312 yr Sorry, I didn't make myself clear, I meant the clouds, no benefit so far. Dirk. Ah, ok, the clouds fix doesn't work with SGSS and since no SGSS is not an option (for anyone I think) the cloud fix doesn't work at all, period. However, I personally never had real problems with clouds! I was just hoping I could gain some performance in certain situations. It's not that clouds suck on my PC. ^_^ does any one have here the full NVI settings recommended to use with DX10 + Fixer? it would be great if someone could post the settings now with the DX10Fixer that gives good picture but we can spare high settings and get some extra FPS due to the fixer. I use now the following (before the Fixer, not purchased it yet) and I get beautiful picture, however it might be a hefty price on FPS, not sure. You're settings are pretty okay for DX10 (FSAA Mode and Setting will be ignored by DX10 and you have to set them using the Fixer or add them manually to the FSX.cfg). However, in order to get the same quality graphics in DX10 it seems most people need a bit higher settings. I used 2xSGSS with DX9 but now I need 4xSGSS. Anyway, I wouldn't count on being able to LOWER the Inspector seting to gain some fps. On the other hand, higher settings won't hurt performance that much in DX10 so in the end you should be able to get similar quality with similar performance.

End Select End Function Hi Paul, I am becoming a DX10 convert after the release of Steve's Fixer, so thank you for sharing all this great info. Not trying to change the topic, but, can you explain a little bit more how you got FSGRW to start automatically with the code you posted. Where do we enter this? And what is the VB menu system? Any info would be great as I more or less gave up trying to get FSX to open this program automatically and start dynamic realtime weather simultaneously. September 21, 201312 yr Hmm - it's easy enough, Marc. Tht chunk of code is Microsoft's Visual Basic, and this little bit is a message box that jumps up just after I press a "VFR Flight" button - here, top-left.. It starts a process of three or four message boxes which pop up, the first asking (in this case) "Do you want run Real Weather?", yes/no? If the answer is a "yes" then the function continues by acting on this line:- Process.Start("E:\AB_SCENERY\FSGRW\FS Global Real Weather.exe", "dynamic fsx 5 n y") That line will launch FSGRW, and then the app will continue on to another MessageBox, asking "Do you want to run EZCA?", etc., and then TrackIR.. these are not quite so simple, but you get the idea. Each of those boxes along the top will launch a specific variant of configuration of FSX, the fsx.cfg, the exe.xml, the dll.xml and so on, each having it's own very specific settings. To launch FSGRW alongside FSX, we can do that with a simple bat file, like this below: You need to know the location of each of those files - i.e where the fsx.exe is - you already have a shortcut to that, right? and then the path to FSGRW.exe - and that's here on my pc. The bat file is just a text (txt) file - done in NotePad which is renamed as a ".bat" file, which will run just like any other program when you dbl-click on it. (Google .bat files and DOS commands) So:- FSX.exe is at: F:\Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe FSGRW.exe is found at:- E:\AB_SCENERY\FSGRW\FS Global Real Weather.exe So.... to launch them in the simplest terms:- @ECHO OFF CLS start E:\AB_SCENERY\FSGRW"\FS Global Real Weather.exe" dynamic fsx 5 n y start F:"\Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe" exit You just save that (Notepad file) as (for e.g.) ' Start_FSX.bat ' to your desktop, dbl-clk it and voila' - Running. Those are the rudimentary commands that you need to start FSGRW, Marc, and have it wait for FSX, which is called immediately afterwards. The " " are there because the CMD system doesn't like spaces in addresses. Substitute your paths in place of my paths, and try it -it will run just fine! Thar ya go! All the Best, i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

September 21, 201312 yr Peej, My .cfg shows ForceVWindowedvsync=1 in David's it shows as follows: [GRAPHICS] ForceWindowedVSync=1 Guess mine is an error then? \Robert Hamlich/
September 22, 201312 yr I've tried to get the best aa to performance ratio in dx10. I have the same exact problem as J van E. It's a dead end. In DX10, either you want good performance but jaggedy, terrible looking displays, or crisp and clean displays with nasty stutters and fps drop whenever there are clouds in the area. But then again, I reeeaallly don't want to go back to dx9. :( How could you be having problems with clouds on a 780!?! Just a little 4xSGSS? How about 4xSGSS in DX9? How was that with thick clouds? I ask because I have a 7970 and use 8xSSAA (like 4xSGSS) with DX9 and 10 and when there is overcast I get stutters. Charles.
