September 22, 201312 yr Most likely not related and therefore of no help- My FSX opens up to the startup screen with the default Trike revolving. When I go to select any aircraft, the Trike stops revolving, and everything freezes for about 30 seconds, then the selected aircraft appears revolving in place of the Trike. If I try to click anything during that 30 seconds when FSX appears to lock up, I get the message "FSX is not responding". (The same applies when selecting a scenery, even after I have had the freeze on selecting an aircraft previously). I'm sure this is something else- I have learned to live with it, but in case you are as impatient as I am, this could look like a lock-up when a short wait would solve it. In my case this only affects the first run of FSX after the PC is started. I'm not looking for help for my issue, just wondering if this is what you are seeing. Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. Thanks, Bruce. that is how mine behaves too. My friend always has crashes because he is impatient and usually keeps clicking buttons. I always tell him to wait until the he sees the plane spinning then he can continue.
September 22, 201312 yr Hi James, i had also a problem with a black screen but having also error message regarding licensing service and my JetStream 41, as support couldnt help me with that i didnt fly her for some month`s, after using this new rig here all went ok (new rig problem solved, yipi ya yeah ? ... ohh wait wooow smoooth yipi ya yeah !!!). i have some questions here which i would ask me again, maybe they could help with your problem... - did i followed the intro manuals advice not installing FSX into the default directory but maybe C:\FSX or another drive/partition ? - if not do i have user account control activated ? (i wont recommend disabaleing it for security reasons but without the plug in the case i can test that, better install in another location) - is my windows account part of the admin group ? - if not did i run the installer and FSX with optional admin rights ? - did i checked my system`s event protocol for possible HD read/write errors ? - did i checked my systems application protocol which could help me with error messages ? - did i checked if maybe security software like an antivirus or combined firewall antispy app is blocking something ? - did i start FSX in windowed mode ? (maybe the activation window need that, i can configure that in the fsx.cfg, not shure if it is by default) - did i updated my os and drivers after reinstalling my OS ? - did i reinstalled FSX acceleration or FSX service pack 2 ? - what happens if i press "enter" and or "ALT+ENTER" when the black screen is showing ? edit: sorry if something was allready asked above but i want to have it most complete... JG Yes I have done all the above JG but thank you for your input. Still got nowhere all day today. Just spent a few hours transferring all the add-ons I want to my laptop because next stop is reinstalling windows. What a ball ache this has turned out to be. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
September 23, 201312 yr Author Well reinstalled windows all day today (most of which was taken up my windows update) and just tried installing the NGX. Worked fine this time. Will try and add the 777 and all my addons tomorrow evening. Probably another 6 hours of nursing fsx and linking my 2 machines before I can get a flight in again. Guess the weekend was a write off. Ahh well never mind. No pleasure without pain as they say. Regards 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2

September 23, 201312 yr I have run into this problem a couple of times. The fix or the problem I had was the pilot logbook was corrupted as fsx uses this to reference to on start up. I found a logbook editor that allowed me to edit my existing logbook without losing what I have flown in hours and such. Here is the link: http://lc0277.gratisim.fr/software.html Try that. Or just delete your logbook in you FSX Simulator Files folder in your Documents folder. Good luck! Joe Smelser Joe Smelser
