I know this has been asked over and over, but with reading the forums this is what I came up with for a new PC. Will frame rates be adequate to run PMDG etc? I am confused about hard drives though.

About as good as it can get FPS-wise:) Whats the confusion with the HDD's? Everything looks compatible, but is there a particular reason you're going IB-E 4820k instead of 4770k or even 4670k? Think you're overspending a bit on the MB, but I don't know much about the options when going X79...

The machine is great beyond any doubt, but wether it is a good buy or not, depens on the price(which I suspect is very high). I'm pretty sure you can get a much better deal without losing FSX perfomance by changing some of the parts...

Thanks Tom for your input, The three options I have for the CPU are the 4820K, 4930K, or the 4960x. I chose the bottom of the three. My first hard drive will be an HDD and the second is a SDD for FSx.

Thanks again

John

If money is not an issue, your first choice out of those three should be 4960x, than 4930k and 4820k last. However, I guess your choice is based on price, not performance:) Whats the price on all this?

OS is going on SSD as well I hope?

Tom, It is about $2400. Regarding the HDD and the SSD, this is where I am confused. Should I use the HDD for data storage and SSD then for FSX and OS?

Thanks

John

Ok, thats seem fair:-) As far as HDD's goes, yes, split your SSD into two partitions, one 50gb for OS only(and a few much uses apps like browsers and such) and the rest for FSX. The 2TB disk can be partitioned and used as storage and games/software.
