Black Areas on airport scenery add-ons

Featured Replies

Hello

I would appreciate ideas of how to fix a problem I have with some airport sceneries. Those are important to me because those are the airports used most frequently by the division I fly in IVAO

I am configuring a new PC. After I installed FSX fresh I installed the FSGenesis mesh-set I have always used, Then I installed my add-on airports. All is OK except on a set of airports where I see black areas on the ground or buildings or in the areas near the airport. When I disable the add-on set (that has problems) in FSX scenery settings, the problem goes away (but I loose those add-ons of course). When I chose DX-10 preview in FSX settings, the black areas become light blue.

Setup:

Win7-64, i7-4770K OC 4.2Mhz / 16GB

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 driver 9.18.13.2723 dated 9/12/2013

FSX Acceleration SP2, Kostas tweaks

Also,

I have the old PC still running and this problem does not occur there. That one has a GPU Nvidia GForce 210. To try to isolate the problem I pointed the "trouble" scenery entry to the drive and folder in the old PC over my home network, Interestingly, FSX took the files from the other PC and ran with those BUT STILL SHOWING THE PROBLEM. So,  the problem does not seem to be in the content files.Yet, I have only seen it with those seceneries.

I have attached a picture showing the problem.

The airport is SKBO and the scenery pack is this payware:

Make sure the texture folder for the scenery(ies) is spelled texture and not textures (with an s).

DX10 users will usually see blue textures rendering in the VC's until the object is fully rendered.  There's a fix to change this color to black.

Best regards,

Jim

Thank you for the prompt response.

For my "problem"scenery set, I found that I did not have the texture folder under the same parent folder where I had the scenery folder. So FSX was not seeing it and that was all!.

Thanks again for making my day!

Regards

Alvaro

I guess that's the same thing as has having an 's' at the end of texture. FSX can't "see" it.  Glad you found the solution and posted it here.

Best regards,

Jim
