T7 - two issues

Recommended Posts

Issue one:  Hour and a half flight near end then BAMM FSX locks up and shuts down.  Has happened before.  I've installed per instructions, adjusted FSX.CFG as intro suggests.  I am using a I5 OC @ 4.2 GIG with 8G Mem running WIN7/64.  Only possible addon baggage is Ultimate Traffic and Megascenery (I disable states I am not slated to fly over).  Am I missing something?  I've learned not to use popups other than the FMS to preserve framerates.

Issue two:  I am considering EZDOK.  Are there issues using EZDOK with PMDG?  Is there framerate baggage?

I'm a casual user since the day job is running a real life sim and occasionally flying a Lear 45 on a contract basis.  Please don't shoot me!

OK, I am going to learn something here.  Where do I find a crash log to post?  Apparently, I don't monitor VAS usage.  Enlighten me please.

When FSX crash, usually there is a window with details about failed module. I think it can be accessed via event viewer (press windows start and type event viewer, select windows log>applications) too.

For VAS usage, go to PMDG introduction manual page 21. It's explained well there, much better than I can do now.

I opened event viewer and the apparent entry stated:  "A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (Flight Simulator X v10.0.61637.0)"

As for VAS,  I have hunch that Ultimate Traffic is too much baggage.  I've printed the Intro p21-25 and will absorb.  Thanks for help.  I enjoy both PMDG Boeings just need to refine processes a bit.

That message will be posted to the event viewer any time FSX is started. It's a normal function.

Is FSX actually causing a CTD or is it just freezing and you're manually shutting it down thinking that FSX crashed?

for the EZDOK with PMDG, no frame rate baggage and any issue that i can see. It looks great with the PMDG 777 as you can setup certain views (internal or external) that simulate shaking during roll out and take off.

I've got more investigating to do but after reading the PMDG intro starting page 21, I suspect my use of Ultimate Traffic and Megascenery is probably the problem.  I will probably uninstall UT and be more selective about what states to activate prior to a flight.  Thanks for the suggestions.
