I stumbled across this short video showing the startup of the RealAir Duke. Nice sounds.

Some great tips on using the Garmin 430 in that video list too.

just wanted to thank realair for the expansion pack, beautiful job indeed, well done.!!!! We need more developers like you!!!!

Can anyone point me to a n00b guide for painting 101.  I've got GIMP and can see the layers of the paints.  I'd like to mess around changing basics first.

Gregg did a nice paper checklist... Gregg is it in the library yet?

Huh? That video is from 2009. And it's awful procedure. Turning off nav lights before starting. Keeping avionics on while starting? Yikes. Only in a sim...

David, someday we'll have voltage spikes and current surges modeled in our sims. Until then, take a deep breath. :Big Grin:

I guess you missed the point of the post - 'nice sounds'

I agree, not the best choice of sequence.

Yes, Gregg, good tips and rarely used or known Garmin features. Jeff is with Redbird Simulations now, running the AOPA Jay program.

Bill Womack posted a beginners tutorial in one of the Carenado forums. Spotlope was his username.

I did check it out.  A little too advanced for me.  I need to learn how to paint the colors on and how to get the layers working....  preferable using GIMP.  If it's a PS tutorial the layers operate basically the same and I should be able to learn from a PS tutorial anyway.

I keep falling asleep watching the tutorials.

I'm perfectly fine, not angry or anything, I just made a statement about a video.

Even though all I did was dump black ink onto this livery, it actually worked!  I mean, this plane actually works in FSX.  This is amazing to me lol!

Any ideas on how to start off from white?  I'd keep the details but I want to make stripes.... for starters hehe.

David, didn't mean to stress you out. That was posted "tongue in cheek" as they say.

Why don't you just use Photoshop - CS2 is free to downlaod from Adobe.

Hi Ryan,

you should take a look at the path tool. That's properly the best tool to create stripes and things like that. I would recommend you to take a look at Youtube. You can find a lot of tutorials over there. For example:

Gimp:

Photoshop:

Good luck! And I'm looking forward to your repaints
