Real Air Duke v2.0 Released

Even though all I did was dump black ink onto this livery, it actually worked!  I mean, this plane actually works in FSX.  This is amazing to me lol!

Any ideas on how to start off from white?  I'd keep the details but I want to make stripes.... for starters hehe.

Ryan,

Congrats.  I'm not as surprised as you, but, great job.  We are now expecting a whole hangar of new paints from you.  -_-

David, someday we'll have voltage spikes and current surges modeled in our sims. Until then, take a deep breath. :Big Grin:

I wonder if there's any scope for a type of "trigger" add-on to add in the bits more complex add-ons and the sim itself leaves out. For example:

on enginestart

check voltageSpike prob 10

       if voltagespike=true then

       check radiostatus

            if radiostatus=on then

                  set radios=failed

            else doNothing

Or something...just a thought.

Paul,

I'm sure something along those lines is workable in the sim. It should be a random selection because the starter can be used without knocking out the avionics most times, except on those days when you have a special passenger or you are in a real big hurry to get going. Then it happens for sure. -_-

Real men use checklists.

I smiled and thought 'Does he know what he's getting into?'  To a large extent, you have to have no life worthy of the name to take up airplane painting!

Nothing beats practice to understand the massive amount of work that goes into creating some of these magnificent addons.

The layers thing is messing with my head.  I thought I understood it.  For instance on the S5CEA paint, the callsign seems like it's on three different layers.  One for the gold border, one for the red lettering, and a third for the very top of the lettering.  Then there's two sides.  I bet there's a way you guys mirror your paints?

Then I found GIMP won't save the layers unless I save as .XCF (GIMP's extension similar to .PSD).

Then Sean was helping me and I think I've done something wrong to the alpha channel....  I use ImageTool.exe and I saved the spec map under DXT5...  is this wrong?  I thought I had to save all psd files to DXT 5 then save those to DDS to view  in FSX....

Argh!

Maybe I'll try on a simpler plane like the Legacy first!

Ryan, you've already been told to get yourself a FREE copy of Adobe Photoshop CS2. AND it's legit!

PHOTOSHOP!

OK, so it's several editions old but it's capable of doing more than you(or I) will ever ask of it.

And Ryan, now I'm telling you for the third time. Get Photoshop CS2 - IT'S FREE! :D

Good layer functionality is essential!

I did some reading about the "free" program.... but I'll check it out.

Ron,

Your avatar photo reveals that you are the happiest "miserable old git" I have come across on Avsim!

Best Wishes,

Hey! While you're here, spec files for the B60. I'm useless when it come to spec textures and I crave a set of specs without underlying textures. If I use none it defaults to textures folder and the Ext_T2 at least shows an N number and stripes through my paint. Am I making sense?

Best thing is to email Sean, who is the author of the paintkit templates. I'm sure he will answer your questions, which I am not qualified to answer.
