The Main Reason I Shelve PMDG Products

Recommended Posts

Misleading title much?

It caught our attention, and that's what it was supposed to do, right? But I agree, the title is misleading indeed.

I shelve PMDG products because they simulate planes and not manuals, the company name is equally misleading!

Jim,

I think I know what he's talking about.

It's when a cloud layer has mountains rise up through it. It creates an edge which can be unsightly.

I use AS2012 and have this from time to time. When you say use clouds correctly what do you mean? I have a theme installed but I'm obviously missing something.

Yes thats it! Actually I've been using FEX clouds at 1024 lately, but I'll give the AS clouds a try. Thanks for helping Jim, and I'll give Oscar's suggestion a try too. I love both Active Sky and Opus!

It caught our attention, and that's what it was supposed to do, right? But I agree, the title is misleading indeed.

Sorry bought that, yes perhaps a bit misleading and immature on my part, but I actually learned of the technique here at Avsim

lol, I love how we're singled out here like our products have anything at all to do with this. You should say "high altitude flight" or something.

For what it's worth you can easily see this effect down low in a GA airplane too. I have countless times.

You lost my respect son when you made defamatory comments against another well known blog here last month, a MUCH bigger crime than me starting the post the way I did 'You should say "high altitude flight" or something' ehh I did in the 1st sentence.

Let's shelve this thread - or, maybe, we should move it one more time ... to the Concorde forum!!!

To the OP: I kindly suggest you start reading the ActiveSky manual ...

It's the "haze layer". Some weather engines allow one to turn it off, but that causes the weather display to be incorrect. There was in the avsim library  a set of replacement haze layers, one being almost transparent which also cured the "cloud following" problem.

Same same w/ REX E+--just disable 'realistic haze layer' I think is the path out of that w/ REX.

You might want to try this for weather, its free and it handles the fog better than any other program I have seen yet... also might help if you run 4096 res instead of 1024 clouds....

If you look closely you will see some fog in a few valleys, and for me there is no flickering at all

Talk about misleading titles.

Why did you choose PMDG? Why not Captain Sim or Razbam or someone else?

I smell bias.

Exactly.

I wasn't going to say it, as this guys has a thing for me any way  ... but yes, what a ridiculous title for a thread that is just about him having a problem with shimmering ...... in any aircraft.

I smell lot's of bias and agendas with our friend here.

And he accuses me of circular logic lol!

FSX is over taxed,we need a new platform. My computer is dialed in,and at least once a week, there's always some issue.

Its 10 pounds of #@&* in a 5 pound sack.

Like many here, I'm totally 'gob-smacked' the op used PMDG as his reference point.  It has NOTHING whatsoever to do with PMDG, or ANY other aircraft addon.  It has MUCH to do with the op's setup.

I'm no supporter of any one single developer, but for whatever amount of "respect" the op may have lost, PMDG and Ryan in particular, just gained double that by refraining to to react to being spoken to like a child.

For what its worth to the op, i use REX with OpusX and have no such issues.
