Great news for the owners of the Saab!

Looks like Franz007 was at least partly right:

"Please be careful about making unsubstantiated claims.  The "systems" in the Saab have little to no impact on performance. I should know, I programmed those systems and tested it extensively :)"

"The Saab simulates so many systems and has so much number crunching going on behind the scenes that the CPU is always working for you to run this. [...] Believe it or not, majority of your FPS hit is coming from the actual system simulation and NOT the geometry or textures in use."

There is a significant difference between blaming "too many systems" or "number crunching" and optimizing/changing code structure.

We are NOT changing any of the systems and we are not reducing the amount of systems simulated.  We are optimizing how the code does its job and changing the structure of the code to improve performance.  ALL the code is still there and ALL the systems still do what they did before.

The above statement comes directly from Cameron: http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/5838-saab-340a-performance-and-what-to-expect-in-11/

Complex systems modeling has always a certain impact on performance but it's perfectly normal! However optimizing the code without reducing the amount of functionality is always a good news.
