In the link you will find wind.zip which, once unzipped, contains a file wind.bmp.

Put this into each of your texture folders and let it overwrite the existing file.

Hi Nick

Thank you! That worked perfectly.

Cheers,

Hello all - new to the forum - but DL from SOH here.  I recognize odorboy, vonstroheim, and a few others!

My question is which of Steve's fixers do I need to fix my various PS9 portovers?  Those range from some Virtavia models, some HJG jets, Calclassic props, and the lovely AFG Caravelle.

I know of a payware one, and the freeware (v3.2.2) one hosted here in the library.

I just bought a new system - i5, 8GB RAM, GTX660, FSX Gold/Accell, and in the process of installing REX.

Thanks so much!

Hi DL,

Welcome aboard!

I used Steve's free-ware fixes up to 3.2.2 then moved over to his Payware version when it came out. It's been a while now, but I don't recall any features in the freeware version designed to address legacy aircraft issues. That aside, Steve has done so many enhancements since then that for me, it's pretty much a no-brainer to recommend the payware version.

It's not 100% perfect though. I still have that problem with a couple of my legacy aircraft where the cockpit glass goes transparent in front of certain textures - apparently it's due to the way the MDL was coded. Pretty minor though compared to being completely non-functional in DX10 before the fixer.

Thanks OB,

The Fixer indeed looks the way to go.  Additionally, I think it'll be a necessary (if painful) process of divesting some of the less-used FS9 ports - concentrate just on those few I'll fly / can be fixed.

Finally, I'm coming to grips with having to adjust expectations that there are no "perfect ports" likely in DX10, and in some cases, not feasible at all.  Part of the hobby's evolution, I guess.

Appreciate the help, and have a great evening.

Hi Steve,

I will have to ready up on how to do that properly.  I noticed the feature and experimented, but not surprisingly  it didn't work - likely to do with "operator error."

At the moment, I'm more focused on converting my Calclassics AI - that's become a bigger priority - if it can be done.

thanks for the post - will post back in a week or so.
