B737 and Smiths FMS

Recommended Posts

Just checking to see if anyone has tried installing the ISG Smiths FMS into the Milviz B737?

I've gotten spoiled building my flight plans in FSBuild and then loading them into the FMS. :)

Why not simply export your FSBuild flightplans to FSX .PLN format, then load them into the UNS-1Fw?

The UNS-1Fw David programmed is perfectly capable of loading any FSX formatted .PLN file.

I have tried the ISG Smiths FMC in the 732, and it works, but not well.  Everything is fine except that for some reason it won't always move the heading bug -- something in the panel code seems to be fighting for control.  Often it works perfectly for several waypoints, and then it will "stick" and won't move at all, until you un-stick it by jiggling the heading bug with the dial on the gauge.  So, having to constantly watch it like a hawk makes it less than optimal...but I still like to have it close by in case I need it.

The reason for using the ISG gauge is that it has capabilities that were left out of the UNS-1F.  Most usefully, a HOLD AT PPOS function.  ISG flies a nice holding pattern for you.    On the built-in FMS all you get is "This function exists in the real FMS but was deemed unnecessary for this simulation."

Hi Dutch,

Just insert this code ResetApHdg=1 into the ISG.cfg file and also if there is another ISG.cfg file in your ISG Aircraft folder, Do the same as well.

Cheers! ^_^

That's in there.  It doesn't seem to fix it.  Did that work for you with the MV372?

Oh, I see. Yes, David did not program the "HOLD @ PPOS" function. One must either choose a close wpt already in the flightplan, or choose one closer to PPOS that's not in the plan already (pp 28 et seq)...

Yeah, and Radar Contact just loves to give you a "hold at 40 DME from XYZ blah blah blah".  And figuring out where to add that user way  point along your flightplan can a serious brain twister if you have a bunch of waypoints along a STAR for instance.  Not even sure if the UNS can add a user waypoint (it should.) But watching the DME count down to 40 and hitting HOLD AT PPOS is easy.  I'm all into easy.

No Dutch. Im a die hard FS9ner, But know my thing with ISGSim.

Your problem seemed to be a well known with the heading sticking and not refreshing its path.

with that RESETHDG confige I thought it would had been resolved But seems that the AP for Milviz 737 model override ISGSIM confige which is known for top model aircraft. Frankly, I can't see why would anyone retrofit top quality models.
